Cuando en 1736 cesaron los seis largos años de erupciones del Timanfaya, los agricultores de La Geria creyeron que sus fértiles tierras se habían perdido para siempre bajo una gruesa capa de ceniza. Pero las familias locales necesitaban hacer que la tierra volviera a ser productiva y, a base de trabajo duro y determinación, consiguieron crear los viñedos de La Geria.
Empezarás con un paseo panorámico, recorriendo senderos a través de viñedos privados pertenecientes a la bodega familiar de Nacho Romero, abiertos en exclusiva para los visitantes de National Geographic.
Mientras te empapas del carácter excepcional de estos paisajes en los que los viñedos están rodeados de volcanes, el propietario te explicará cómo la capa de ceniza volcánica, conocida localmente como «picón», ha moldeado sus métodos de cultivo, únicos en el mundo. When Timanfaya's six long years of eruptions ceased in 1736, the farmers of La Geria believed their fertile lands were lost forever under a thick layer of ash.
