The guide was very knowledgable and dynamically changed the itinerary to suit our circumstances. Safety is lower as the streets where quite slippy and steep in places and in the rain would be a different experience. Bell tower climb was fine for us (two 70 year olds) and views from the top are stunning. All in all a great couple of hours walking around Rovinj and learning a bit more about this old and beautiful town.
Did you know that Rovinj was once an island? Have you heard of Croatian Atlantis? Did you know that prohibition and speakeasies existed in Rovinj centuries before those in the US? These and many more questions will be answered on this unique Rovinj tour.
The tour starts on the Trg Marsala Tita and goes straight into the Old Town. Listen to the intriguing history of Rovinj while strolling the cobbled narrow streets and small squares. Hear about the pirate origins of the city followed by Roman rule, through years of prosperity in the Venetian Republic, Austrian investments, and the brutal 20th century filled with fascism, communism, and wars. On your way, you can admire all the must-see attractions and discover many hidden gems known only to locals.
Finally, climb the highest tower in Istria - St. Euphemia's Belltower, to be rewarded with breathtaking views. The visit to Rovinj wouldn't be complete without tasting the finest Istrian liqueur - Teranino, made in a family-owned distillery.
