A great visit - highly recommended. Plitvice Lakes are stunning and we were lucky to be there on a sunny day so the turquoise lakes were beautiful. Only downside was the waiting times for the boat and the train bus at the end - 2 hours in total. Be sure to take lots of snacks and drinks and maybe an umbrella in summer as there is no shade when waiting for the boat. We took our 10 year old son who loved it. The walking was pretty straightforward and definitely not too much and our guide was great
Plitvice National Park is a big tick on any bucket list in Croatia. You'll have an early start to reach the UNESCO World Natural Heritage site of Plitvice National Park, but some trips are worth the effort. As Croatia's largest and oldest national park, this emerald gem is home to 16 lakes, interconnected by waterfalls that've got the serious wow factor. Arriving at the park by mid-morning lets you beat the crowds, and gives you plenty of time to explore some of the 18km of wooden paths that snake around the park. As you wander, keep an eye out for the diverse wildlife that calls this park home – from deer and bears to over 120 species of birds. The guided nature walk will take you along all the bridges, boards, and best lookout points over the lakes so you can snap up all the views you want.
