What to expect

With this tour you will get to explore one of the most significant landmarks of the western civilization, the Acropolis of Athens and the world-renowned Acropolis Museum.

First you will meet your guide – an experienced archeologist and then start your unique guided walking tour of Athens. You will enter from the south slope of the acropolis and then set off on a leisure walking tour next to some of the world’s finest monuments. Along the way, you will learn many interesting insights of the citadel’s ruins, including excavation details by your knowledgeable guide.

Next you will visit the Theater of Dionysus — an amphitheater that is arguably the birthplace of the performing arts. Perch yourself on one of the stone seats and imagine the sights and sounds experienced by ancient theater-goers, who came to watch plays by Greek writers Aeschylus, Sophocles and Euripides. You will also pass by the Odeon of Herodes Atticus, the theater is still used today during the Athens Festival from May to October.

Next you will visit Asclepius Temple – a healing temple that honored the god of medicine Asclepius, before continuing to one of the most recognized buildings on the planet: the Parthenon. You will meander around the perimeter of the temple and learn more about how it was constructed to honor the Goddess Athena.

Once you familiarize yourself with the site's classical architecture, you will head indoors to the Acropolis Museum for a brief break. Ranked one of the top five museums in the world, the Acropolis Museum boasts collections of statues and other relics of the everyday life of ancient Greeks, in several galleries. In the Gallery of the Slopes of the Acropolis, you will have the chance to experience a glass floor, that occasionally reveals an archeological excavation site.
