O que esperar

Walk along this 5 km levada, and get the opportunity to admire the scenic landscapes of Serra da Água Valley. The levadas are canals used to bring water from the North to the South of Madeira.

This trekking, that start at Campanário area, will take you to discover the variety of the local flora and fauna, and to admire some of the most famous locations on South coast of the island, such as Encumeada, Ribeira Brava and Campanario.

During the tour you will reach a maximum elevation of 570 m and a minimum one of 510 m.

  • If infants until 3 years old require a car seat, a supplement of 3€ will be charged locally
  • There's a tax to be paid locally, in cash, of 3€ per person of 13 years old onwards. For children until 12 years old, this tax doesn't apply

Know in advance:

  • The walking time is about 2.5 hours, the walking distance is 5 km
  • It's recommended to wear comfortable footwear
  • Foods and drinks are not included, it's recommended to bring a packed lunch, snacks, and water
  • Parents will be entirely responsible for children 0 to 9 years old
  • Please provide a valid contact number and e-mail address upon booking, so you may be informed of any changes to the tour
  • The excursion may be cancelled due to bad weather conditions or if the tour guide evaluates that the tour cannot happen due to security reasons. If this happens an alternative tour for the same day will be offered, or, in case the participant chooses not to accept the alternative, a full refund will be given
