De excursie was een goede combinatie van veel zien en informatie ontvangen over het park en het eiland en plezier maken op de dromedaris. Voor mijn zoon van 8 was het voldoende. Wat we wel jammer vonden was dat er weinig tijd was om na de experimenten even rond te kijken en de omgeving in je op te nemen. Het was nu foto maken, plassen en door naar de bus.

We vonden de Timanfaya tour heel erg bijzonder. Indrukwekkend om te zien hoe zoiets kan ontstaan. De kamelentour hebben we wel gedaan maar we vonden het veel te commerciël.. Achteraf hadden we er spijt van maar er werd ons verteld dat er goed voor de dieren gezorgd word.

This half-day tour is Lanzarote in a nutshell. You'll call in at El Golfo lagoon, journey through Timanfaya National Park and visit the Salinas de Janubio. We'll even throw in a wine tasting session to round off the tour.First up, you'll visit the waters of El Golfo - it's emerald waters have starred in many a Hollywood film over the years. But that's just an appetiser for the main event – the visit to Timanfaya National Park. Discover the island's spectacular green north and the volcanic south, visiting Timanfaya National Park, Jameos del Agua caves and a winery along the way.The fun starts with a trip to the subterranean salt lake at Jameos del Agua. This ancient volcanic cavern was converted into a bar and concert space by local architectural legend, Cesar Manrique. After lunch, you'll get to find out how grapes are grown at a volcanic soil winery. You'll sample one-of-a-kind local wines from La Geria, a unique wine-growing region created after the Timanfaya volcanic eruptions 300 years ago. Next up is the Salinas de Janubio salt flats where traditional methods are still in use. Seawater enters shallow basins, evaporates under the sun, and workers harvest the salt manually. These salt flats are a haven for migratory and coastal bird species.Thanks to its otherworldly natural landscape, Lanzarote was declared a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve in 1993. And the star of the show here is undoubtedly Timanfaya National Park. Follow the famous Lunar Route and explore lava fields, volcano craters and steaming geysers as you learn about why the whole island has achieved this special UNESCO-listed status. Then, experience it up close as you feel the heat beneath your feet and witness brushwood burn into flames.

Cesar Manrique’s Lanzarote tour with Cactus Garden and LagOmar

With its vine-laden lava fields, exuberant architecture and otherworldly landscapes, Lanzarote looks and feels like something from a sci-fi movie set. This exclusive half-day tour takes in the Cesar Manrique Foundation and his Cactus Garden, followed by a visit to LagOmar. Rosa, one of our expert local guides, says, ‘Manrique convinced his fellow islanders to invest in tourism without overdevelopment, making sure any human impact is in harmony with our volcanic landscapes.'Manrique was admired by many in his lifetime, and his influence on Lanzarote's culture lives on. He was a versatile artist producing paintings, sculptures and architectural works, bringing sustainability to the forefront of his creations, long before it became a buzzword. You'll first tour his Jardín de Cactus, where 1,100 species of sculptural succulents are grown. You can see instantly how Manrique's skill and vision enhanced the barren landscape. Similarly, the Fundacion Cesar Manrique demonstrates that harmony between the built environment and nature can succeed. A visit to the artist's home-studio, built into a lava field, is ample proof. Your final stop of the tour will be at LagOmar, a stunning spot that seamlessly combines nature and art. This unique place is set in a volcanic quarry and includes features like a cave-bar, restaurant, and a museum. Local legend has it that Hollywood icon Omar Sharif briefly owned it, only to lose it in a game of cards.

Guided wine-tasting tour of three Lanzarote vineyards

Lanzarote's mineral-rich volcanic soils are the key to its excellent wines. This morning tour takes you to three wineries to sample some of their award-winning organic wines. Plus, you'll also visit the Monumento del Campesino to see the famous farmer's monument. Teresa, one of our expert local guides, says, ‘Our island's wines are the fruit of our ingenuity in harnessing the destruction wrought by Mother Nature into an art – a common thread that weaves together islander and landscape.'After pick-up, you'll head straight for the Monumento del Campesino, designed by legendary Lanzarote architect Cesar Manrique. Built in his trademark style that fused whitewashed structures with volcanic bubbles and exotic plants, it's a joy to explore. Then, it's off to the family-owned Bodega La Geria. Here, vines are shielded from the winds by horseshoe-shaped stone walls, while the humidity retained by the ash helps them grow in this harsh climate. Enjoy a guided tour of the winery and taste some of its prized Malvasia wines.Next, nestled at the base of the Juan Bello volcano, you'll visit Bodega Los Bermejos. This boutique winery is famed for its artisanal approach, crafting exceptional wines from indigenous grape varieties like Malvasía Volcánica and Diego. Rounding off the tour is Bodega Suarez, a charming winery that offers visitors an authentic taste of the island's unique wine culture. Festive evening tour of Arrecife Christmas Fair and markets

Despite the balmy temperatures, you'll feel fully festive on this evening trip to Navilan, Arrecife's Christmas fair, complete with rides, market stalls and cozy fire pits. Ana, one of our local guides, says “it's the most wonderful time of the year in Lanzarote. Surround yourself with the festive magic of the fair and jingle your way through the market – the ultimate gift under your Christmas palm tree.”Whether you're after an adrenaline rush on the rollercoaster, or prefer the pace of a classic carousel, there's something for all ages and appetites, and you'll have plenty of time to explore it all. Ride the 32-meter-high Ferris wheel to get your bearings and nab a picture of Arrecife bathed in the glow of twinkling Christmas lights. There's a snowy slope for sledging down, an ever-snowing igloo and an ice-rink where you can show off your triple axel – or just have a shuffle around with the crowd. With the scent of roasted chestnuts in the air, follow your nose to the traditional Christmas market. 22 stalls are brimming with festive favourites, from handmade crafts, decorations and gifts to locally produced cheeses, jams and wines. Ana adds “nothing says Christmas like a roaring fire, so make sure you take a moment to cozy up by the fire pit, grab some marshmallows to toast and maybe a hot chocolate or mulled wine.” After you've had your fill of Christmas cheer, you'll meet up with your guide and jingle all the way back to your hotel in Playa Blanca or Puerto del Carmen.

Lobos Island and Dolphin Watching Trip

Isla de Lobos, or island of the wolves, is as remote and wild as they come – and your destination for the day on this rejuvenating boat trip. You'll disembark at Lobos Island where the time's yours to swim and go in search of peace and tranquillity. During the journey to and from Lanzarote, keep an eye on the dolphins, flying fish and whales that may join us for the ride.You'll set sail from Puerto del Carmen, with Lobos Island in your sights. After about an hour and a half at sea, seeking out signs of activity for dolphins and whales, you'll land on the island's idyllic shores. White sand dunes shimmer beneath the clear seas, inviting you to swim and explore this protected natural area.Head off on one of the paths, or keep to the shores doing as much, or as little, as you like. Then, after about two hours, you'll board the jet boat once more to skirt your way back to Lanzarote – keeping watch for the flying fish that often put on a show.
