On this half-day tour you'll relive scenes from one of the most popular movies of all time. Visit the locations used during the filming of The Sound of Music in Salzburg and its surrounding countryside. During the tour, you’ll also hear songs from the original soundtrack. Let your guide show you the architectural and historical landmarks of the city and the picturesque Lake District. See Leopoldskron Palace, a place whose exterior was used as the Trapp family home and where the children were seen boating on the lake and jumping into the water. Maria was a novice at Nonnberg Abbey, the oldest convent in German-speaking Europe, and your next stop. The St. Gilgen and Lake Wolfgang scenes shown at the beginning of the movie were actually filmed at Lake Fuschl, on the way to St. Gilgen, which you'll also see today. The wedding scene was filmed at Mondsee Cathedral, a buttery yellow-and-white edifice where you'll stop on the tour. Maria, led by Liesl, walked down the aisle to meet the baron in front of the stairs of the main altar. After dropping you off in Salzburg at the end of the tour you can visit Mirabell Gardens, located just opposite the tour terminal. Discover the hills that have been alive to the Sound of Music since 1967. This 4-hour tour of the famous movie’s locations whisks you around the historical city of Salzburg, then departs for the breathtaking mountainous landscape of Salzkammergut. Traveling with, Albus, the company involved with the original filming, you will be guided around The Mirabell Gardens – where the famous “Do-Re-Mi” singing scene took place – and the 17th-Century Hellbrunn Palace, where Rolf and Liesl sang "16 going on 17," and Maria and the Baron sang “Something Good.” Heading for the mountainous landscape of Salzkammergut, you will stop off at the idyllic Palace of Leopoldskron, the Benedictine monastery of Nonnberg Abbey, Lake Wolfgang, and the cloister church in Mondsee, where Maria walked down the aisle to meet the Baron at the altar. As well as providing a glimpse into a timeless movie, the tour also takes in many other local pieces of history and culture along the way.

This trip will take you through the picturesque foothills of the Bavarian Alps. You'll be able to see the enchanting Chiemsee, also called the "Bavarian Sea," which, with an area of nearly 80 km², is the largest lake in Bavaria. In Salzburg, the city of Mozart, you will have around 2.5 hours to see the city's impressive buildings, take in the vistas, and wander through the beautiful Baroque old town. Situated at the northern boundary of the Alps, the Baroque city of Salzburg boasts a glorious natural setting. On this 5.5-hour trip you will experience both city and countryside in a fusion of 2 popular tours, covering both the historic city center and the lakes and mountains that surround it. Anthony was well versed in Sound of Music knowledge and the history of Salzburg. Saw shooting locations of the house, the gazebo, the lake, the trees that the kids climbed, and the church. Ended tour in Mirabella Gardens. Wonderful tour!!!! I would love to do it again!

Our guide Peter and driver Boris were fabulous. We had the best time ever and learned so much about the filming of The a Sound Of Music but also about the real Maria and the Von Trapp family. We will be back!

The tour was fantastic and well organised. It allowed you to see the scenes from the movie and the fantastic Austrian countryside. I would thoroughly recommend booking this tour, very professional.
