Cosa aspettarsi

Questo tour di mezza giornata rappresenta Lanzarote in poche parole: farete scalo alla laguna di El Golfo, attraverserete il Parco Nazionale di Timanfaya e visiterete le Salinas de Janubio. Per completare il tour, è prevista anche una degustazione di vini.

Per prima cosa, visiterete le acque di El Golfo, le cui acque smeraldine sono state protagoniste di molti film hollywoodiani nel corso degli anni. Ma questo è solo un antipasto per l'evento principale: la visita al Parco Nazionale Timanfaya. Famoso per il suo paesaggio lunare, costellato di campi di lava e rocce nere, si può ammirare la "Montagna di fuoco", solo per citarne alcune.

Continueremo il tour con una sosta a La Geria per un sorso di vino locale prima di raggiungere le Salinas de Janubio, le più grandi saline delle Canarie. Scattate qualche selfie con i chilometri di cumuli di sale bianco come il cotone, mentre la guida vi illustra la storia di questa importante risorsa dell'isola. El Golfo and Timanfaya national park excellent. Very good explanations from the guide. Visit to the salt pans also interesting, they were scraping the salt piramids the day we were there. The visit to the vineyard was just an opportunity to taste a local wine. No tour ,explanation of process by owners or visit to the press which was a shame. But the main event the tour of the lunar lanscape of yhr national park was mind blowing.

The tour guide, David was fantastic. Very informative, funny and appeared to enjoy the tour as much as everyone else- he and the driver are a credit to this tour! Very prompt pick up and drop off and enjoyed the music on the bus in between. Although it didn’t bother me, I would suggest changing the name of the “wine tasting” as it was just one small sip so some could find this misleading.

Very experienced guide and driver, use of WhatsApp to avoid busy tourist areas to allow our coach a great experience. Right amount of time at each location definitely worth the money as we had a lovely day.

When Timanfaya's six long years of eruptions ceased in 1736, the farmers of La Geria believed their fertile lands were lost forever under a thick layer of ash. But the local families needed to make the land productive again, and through sheer hard work and determination, they succeeded in creating the vineyards of La Geria. You'll start off with a scenic walk, following trails through private vineyards belonging to the family-owned bodega of Nacho Romero, opened exclusively for National Geographic travellers. As you soak up the unique character of these landscapes where vineyards are surrounded by volcanoes, the owner will explain how the layer of volcanic ash, known locally as ‘picón,' has shaped their cultivation methods, which are unique in the world. If you are lucky enough to find them ripe, you might even get to pick grapes straight from the vine as you hear Nacho or his wife Luisa, both winemakers, talk about the characteristics of volcanic wine. Back at the bodega after the walk, you'll be able to sample one of the artisanal wines that Nacho and Luisa make in their home winery. Next, you'll head to Bodega La Geria – another important component of the ecological wine making movement. The winemaker himself will show you around the bodega. Find out the secrets of the hollows, called ‘zocos' which shelter the vines from the wind, and discover the different varieties of grapes that thrive in Lanzarote's volcanic terroir. To finish, savour a tasting of one of the estate's renowned wines with local cheese and crackers.
