The port where private boats embark in Naples is called Mergellina. The port where the cruise ships come in is called Beverello. If you are arriving by cruise ship, a driver can be arranged to meet your below your cruise ship. They will then take you to Mergellina, where your private boat will be waiting.  The captain will pick you up at the pier and head along the coastline towards the Island of Capri. You will see the Sorrento Coast on one side and the island of Capri in front of you, with Naples and Mt. Vesuvius to your right as you cross the Bay of Naples. Next, cross the valley of Mount Vesuvius, passing the towns of Ercolano, Torre del Greco, and Torre Annunziata before arriving at Pompeii, where you will break for lunch. Continue after lunch with a guided visit to the excavations. Your guide will explain Pompeii's tragic story from an archaeological perspective and uncover what has lain beneath the ashes. Afterward, on the way back to Rome, you will stop to visit a coral and cameo factory, where you can admire and purchase items of the ancient craft that dates back to Greek times.

You can also explore some of the historical relics in the village. Next head on to the Piazzetta in Capri's Center. This is the heart of the island, where tourists and locals come to people watch. You can walk along the narrow streets filled with designer shops and iconic hotels, and see Faraglioni Rock from the lovely Augustus Garden. Take some free time to enjoy the area, before the ferry back to Naples.
