Mauritius: Private Southwest Day Tour with Pickup

1. Mauritius: Private Southwest Day Tour with Pickup

Explore Mauritius' southern coast and west interior on a private day tour with pickup offered from multiple areas on the island. See stunning mountain landscapes, listen to cascading waterfalls, and be impressed by the Grand Bassin Hindu Temple or Trou aux Cerfs crater. Your adventure begins at your hotel where you will be picked up and then taken to the towns of Curepipe and Floreal, both known for their colonial French architecture. Afterward, drive on to the Trou aux Cerfs crater to see an extinct volcano now overgrown with nature. Then, head to Lord Shiva, Grand Bassin Hindu Temple which is surrounded by the crater lake of Ganga Talao. Here, have the chance to learn about Hindu culture and traditions and how they persist in modern Mauritius society. From the temple then drive to Black River Gorges National Park to admire the island's landscapes and views of the mountains. Set out to see the Alexandra Waterfall and after the park, go to the village of Chamarel to visit more incredible waterfalls. Stop by the Seven Coloured Earths geological formation and then say hi to the resident giant turtles. From here you will be driven back to your hotel to be dropped off.

Port Louis & Northern Mauritius Full Day Guided Tour

2. Port Louis & Northern Mauritius Full Day Guided Tour

Spend the first part of the day exploring the capital city of Mauritius, Port Louis. Climb up to Fort Adelaide, known as 'The Citadel', a 19th-century military fortress which features a walled courtyard and panoramic city views. Continue your shopping excursion at the splendid Caudan Waterfront. In the afternoon, pay a visit to the beautiful gardens at the Grapefruit Botanical Paradise. Then continue along the northwest coast via the Tamil Temple, Choisy Beach, and Grand Baie. Make a stop at Cap Malheureux, a village located in the Rivière du Rempart District to see The Palatial Red Church, a Roman Catholic Church famous for its vivid red roof against the bright turquoise sea and azure sky. Opt to pop into L'Aventure Du Sucre or the Sugar Factory Museum, where you can discover the history of sugar production in Mauritius and taste local products. Or perhaps make a stop at the majestic Chateau de Labourdonnais, one of the most beautiful colonial houses of the island inspired by Italian neo-classical architecture. Visit at the top with Ibrahim who knows the island by heart and who was able to tell us his story. In true communion with nature, he surprised us by making us discover coffee flowers, pink pineapples and many other things. Highly recommend if you want a full and detailed tour. Professional from A to Z. The only downside was the lunchtime restaurant where we were taken without much choice and expensive for what it is (17 euros for a rice/chicken dish).

We spent a wonderful day with Seilan, you will not find a better driver and guide, he accompanied us throughout our excursion, his explanations, his kindness, his exceptional photography skills, we had a lot of fun with him, we recommend him 100%! Aude and William
