My wife and I are currently visiting Okinawa and didn't want to pick up a sim card so we decided to try an eSIM. We both have UNLOCKED Galaxy Fold 3's from the United States. First, I should say, I am not very tech savy however, my wife was tired and fell asleep! :( I tried to use only the QR code-that didn't work properly. My phone showed me connected to docomo carrier but I still didn't have internet. I spent a lot of time trouble shooting and watching YouTube tutorials. I feel like I became an expert changing APN settings. Finally, I went back through the get your guide app and followed the APN settings under the details tab then chose IIJ network carrier (I think). Once I did that, it worked great! I did a google search test to verify my connection. I almost gave up all hope!

I had a wonderful time on the whale watching excursion. The crew was great and made everyone feel safe and comfortable. We did not have a whale jump out of the water or any noteworthy close ups, but we did see a couple whales due to the crew’s string efforts to ensure at least a few sightings. The outfit back at the shop running this excursion was also fantastic. I had some challenges with travel, internet connectivity and communication for this outing. They were patient and very helpful to make sure I made the trip. Definitely go out and enjoy this adventure!!!

Kayaking was fun and the guide was very friendly, helpful and able to communicate in English well. Despite being the only non-Japanese speaker the guide made sure to explain everything during the tour in English and Japanese

Works perfectly in Tokyo with a good speed Be careful, you still have to scan the QR code so either have it printed beforehand, or have a second phone to be able to send it on it and then scan it

The guides were really nice. As promised we saw some whales. Even the transport from our hotel and back was included.
