Full description
Explore the Yorkshire Moors on a private walking tour, complete with myths and legends.  After your pick-up in York, drive out to the countryside for your adventure in the moors. Visit famed spots such as Roulston Scar,  the site of a massive hill fort dating back to 400BC. Continue along the escarpment and see the impressive White Horse of Kilburn up close. Built-in 1857 by a local schoolmaster and 31 villagers, the horse is nearly 100 meters long and one of Yorkshire’s best-known landmarks. On a clear day, it’s even visible from nearly 50 kilometers away.  Then head to Lake Gormire, the only natural lake on the moors that formed 10,000 years ago as a relic of the last ice age. After that, ascend the hillside to the top of White Mare Crag, where Sir Harry de Scriven met his fate one stormy night. End the day with a special Yorkshire-themed gift and a fauna guide for any kids in your private group. Enjoy a transfer back to your accommodation in York at the end of the activity.
