    Leave York at 9:00 AM to explore the stunning landscape of the Yorkshire Dales National Park. Stop at the 14th-century Bolton Castle, former home of Mary Queen of Scots, to enjoy the magnificent views over Wensleydale. Next, enjoy some free time in Hawes. Sample the cheeses at the world famous Wensleydale Creamery, visit the Dales Countryside Museum, or explore the quaint shops and cafes. Move on to the heart of the Yorkshire Dales National Park. Pass through the picturesque villages on the way to Kettlewell, the main filming location for the Calendar Girls movie. Explore the village, learn more about the true story behind the movie, or relax with the locals in one of the pubs and cafes. Finally, stop in the charming town of Pateley Bridge, winner in the Great British High Street Competition in 2016. Visit the oldest sweet shop in the world before heading back to York, arriving at around 5:15 PM.

    It was a really enjoyable day with my wife and adult daughter. Mark was a very smooth driver and the Mercedes minibus was comfortable. Mark is a knowledgeable, friendly guide. The stops were well planned and not rushed. The scenery is fantastic and this was probably the highlight of our holiday.

    Great way to spend a day out of York

    Our guide, Chris, was excellent in every way. Lots of stops in beautiful places. And the length of time in each with perfect. Never too long and always just long enough to take in the view, take photos and ooh and ahh. The Dales are breathtaking — and the villages are charming — and we were glad we spent our day this way.

    Very good tour!

    Took a Dales tour 20 years ago on a big bus. This tour is SO much better. You are on a minibus with no more than 16 riders. It's much more personal and you don't have to wait for 40-odd people every time the bus makes a stop. I never felt like I was being "herded" anywhere. Hence, you see more and do more. The stops are good choices with a nice amount of time to explore. It's also possible to have great chats with locals. Our guide was excellent. And I noticed he would check windows for smudges and clean them while we were stopped. I much appreciated that. My small complaint is that the minibus had good air control but limited temp control. Even with the air blowing it was sometimes a bit too hot on the bus.
