We spent a thoroughly enjoyable 3 hours with the lovely Cecil and 5 other tourists. Cecil was a very friendly and utterly delightful guide. He kept everyone together at a manageable pace and was very knowledgeable. We saw much more of York than we would have been able to in the same timescale on foot and felt very safe on the routes we were taken - the traffic wasn't an issue. The bikes had too many gears for me, so I found one that I felt comfortable with and stuck with it. The bikes were well maintained and my only criticism was that the saddle was a little hard - especially over the cobbles! The tour was one of the highlights of our trip and we missed being on the bikes the rest of our stay.
Absolutely brilliant fun!! I chose the bike tour for something to do for my husbands 50th birthday whilst visiting York for the weekend with our friends. Our original tour day was due to rain, Get Your Guide moved it to the following day with no problem at all. The four of us had a blast riding around York on our bikes for 3 hours, seeing & hearing about all York's history. Three hours seems a long time but it went really fast! Andy our guide was great fun & extremely knowledgeable. Thank you Andy for making it memorable & for Daves gift:-) Di, Dave (50+1), Mark & Amanda x
Highly recommend this cycling tour. The bikes were in really nice condition and we covered distances that you would never achieve on foot. I only ever ride a bike on holiday so not a seasoned bike rider and I found the tour set at a good comfortable pace and flat easy riding. Lots of information given at various stops about the buildings and history of York. Andy was an excellent guide. Absolutely the best way to see York.
Our guide was informative protective and interesting. The bikes were in excellent condition. It was not strenuous and there were frequent stops ( but take your own water as there are no refreshment stops). You get to see lots of the city you wouldn’t otherwise as you can cover a much larger area than on foot. In general it’s safe as there are only very short areas where you share the roads with traffic.
Thoroughly recommend this tour - our guide Andy was very knowledgeable and easy to get on with. Took us to some interesting places that I was unaware of despite visiting York many times in the past.
