1. Thirroul: 7-Day Surf Camp
Situated in a beautiful town on the edge of some spectacular scenery, but only an hour's drive from Sydney and its amazing harbor and nightlife, be coached by thorough professionals whose only goals are to have you surfing better than you ever have before. Meet locals, climb mountains, surf in a national surfing reserve, see surfboards being made and above all, have the time of your life! The base is in the small south coast surf town of Thirroul in the Northern suburbs of Wollongong, a University town with beautiful beaches and great nightlife. Thirroul itself is a lively, Australian surf community just one hour south of Sydney, and has direct train access its city center. It is Sydney’s closest surf camp, and gives you the opportunity to enjoy a real taste of Australian coastal life, its surf culture and breathtaking scenery, as well as great access to the local nightlife. Each day you will be picked up by a surf coach and driven to the beach with the best conditions. Bikes and skateboards are available to you for around town travel. Over the 5 day course, there will be 9 2-hour lessons in the water, each with an element of theory and practical. You can also benefit from state of the art cameras filming from below and above, allowing you to receive corrections on your technique. Last, but definitely not least, is a trip to a local surfboard factory, where the entire process of board manufacturing occurs before your eyes. If you choose to stay longer, you also have the opportunity to shape one! The most important meal of the day - continental breakfast - is served to you everyday to fuel your surfing session. For dinner, you can visit numerous restaurants and pubs in the area, or or benefit from discounts at the Beach Motel restaurant and bar.
