Full description
This tour will take you to the fascinating places in the Lake District associated with Wordsworth, Southey, and Coleridge, the famous Romantic poets. Drive through stunning scenery to see the place where both Southey and Coleridge lived. Continue on to the quintessentially English churchyard where Southey is buried, to see the poet's grave and memorial site. Following in the poets' footsteps, visit the pretty village of Grasmere. Here you will see the Wordsworth family graves, one of the most visited places in the Lake District. Explore Dove Cottage, where Wordsworth lived with his sister, and visit the Wordsworth Museum. See where the poet wrote some of his most famous odes. Next head to Rydal Mount to see the family home where Wordsworth lived for 37 years, and died in 1850. Visit the hall's tranquil gardens and follow the sculpture trail throughout the grounds. Listen to the sound of rushing water running over a series of high waterfalls down a rocky ravine in the wooded garden. Finish your tour at Dora’s Field, by the church in Rydal. Wordsworth planted the field with hundreds of daffodils in memory of his daughter.
