Learn about the fortress’ history, from its construction in 1280 to the history of the site it was built upon. View the former Saxon settlement and its famously well preserved walled Old Town, which earned Sighisoara its distinction as a UNESCO site. Experience the beauty of Rupea Fortress, recently restored in 2014 and originally built by the Saxons and first documented in the 1300s. Learn about the history of the surrounding site, one of the oldest archaeological sites in Romania, where signs of human settlement date back to 5500 BC - 3500 BC. Travel to Viscri (Deustchweisskirch), known throughout Europe because Prince Charles purchased a house in the village in 1996. Visit the village, which attracts 15,000 tourists annually and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Take in Viscri’s beautiful sights while learning about its history as a former Saxon village. See the famous Viscri fortified church, originally built in 1100.

To begin this two-day tour, you will be picked up from your hotel in Cluj-Napoca by your guide and start the journey to Bukovina. On your way to Bukovina, you will make a quick stop in Bistrita, the northernmost fortified Transylvanian town. In a short walking tour through the town, you will enjoy the medieval legends and explore its narrow streets. Bukovina is especially famous for its painted monasteries, and over these two days, you will visit the most representative of all seven. During the second part of the day, you will have the chance to visit the most famous painted monastery in the world, Voronet Monastery. The frescoes of the monastery are dominated by intense shades of blue, and the southern wall depicts the best-preserved ‘Last Judgement’ fresco in Romania. The monastery was built in 1488 by Prince Stephen the Great in order to commemorate one of his victories against the Ottoman Empire. Enjoy a traditional dinner with a folkloric dance show at a nearby restaurant then stay overnight in Gura Humorului. You will start the day with a short drive to Humor Monastery, a small cross-shaped church built in 1530, dedicated to the Dormition of Virgin. Red hues dominate the exterior frescoes showing scenes from the lives of saints, as well as significant moments from the locals’ lives, such as the wars with the Turks. Moldovita Monastery is the next stop on your itinerary. The highlight of the day is Transrarau Highway. With a total length of 28 kilometers (17 miles), it is known as the Treasury Road. You will be amazed by its curves and the scenery. It goes up to 1400 meters in altitude, and from there you will have a hike through the Rarau Mountains. You will have the chance to see the rock formations that emerged from the ground millions of years ago in order to give birth to these mountains. After you have filled your lungs with fresh air it is time for lunch at a fish farm.

On this walking tour, you will follow explore the history of Timisoara, with a focus on the Jewish community. Visit the small Jewish Quarter of Timisoara’s city center. See the city’s beautiful Moorish synagogue, and discover the story and architecture of the impressive Status Quo synagogue in the Fabrikstadt neighborhood. In addition to the magnificent synagogues, a number of Timisoara’s stunning buildings were financed and designed by Jewish townsmen. Another stop on this tour will be the only Stolpperstein, or “stumbling stone” in Romania. These kind of stones are small monuments made of iron or copper which are engraved with the name and life dates of Holocaust victims. These stones are one of the few reminders of the crimes that happened under the Nazi regime during World War II.

In the morning, our guide will pick you up from your location in Brasov and take you to Racos, where you will visit the geological complex which consists of three places which you shouldn't miss: the basalt columns, 15 meter high rock structures that will surely impress you, the Emerald Lake with its unique looking color and last but not least, the ”volcanic canyon.” The area was a witness of volcanic activity and the scenery inside the canyon will make you feel like at the Grand Canyon but in a smaller scale.If you like a bit of history, you can visit the Sukosd Bethlen castle situated in the village of Racos and even climb into the tower for a nice panorama over the area. Your next stop will be the Rupea citadel, situated on top of a small hill, above the city with the same name. This is one of the oldest archaeological sites in Romania, the first signs of human settlements here dating from the Paleolithic and early Neolithic. You final stop will be in Viscri, "the Romanian's home of Prince Charles", which is well known outside the country as being on of the most pitoresque village listed as Unesco World Heritage Sites. We will visit the the White Church, which is a modest house of God but an impressive fortress, one of many created to protect small Transylvanian villages in the Middle Ages. End the day in style, with a traditional meal that will surely make you fall in love with this area. We will stop at a local barn, where the people from the village craft traditional and reinvented dishes. The owners search for authentic, honest ingredients and they change the menu seasonally,depending on what they find interesting in their smallfarmers network. After this you will be taken back to Brasov and dropped off at your location.

Day 1: Brasov, Gura Humorului, Bucovina, Moldovita, and Sucevita Your tour will begin as you are picked up from your hotel in Brasov by your professional guide. From there you will go to Bucovina through the Oituz Pass, before eventually arriving in beautiful Bucovina. Once having arrived, you will visit the Humor Monastery (a UNESCO World Heritage Site), the Voronet Monastery (also known as the "Sistine Chapel of the East" due to its splendid frescoes), and the Moldovita Monastery. At the conclusion of your day, you will spend an overnight in Sucevita Village at a guest house, where you will also have dinner. Day 2: Sucevita, Marginea, Gura Humorului, Bicaz Gorges, Red Lake, and Brasov Following breakfast (which will consist of products from the house farm) on the second day, you will begin with a visit to the Sucevita Monastery. Few religious monuments are as inspirational and mesmerizing as the Sucevita Monastery, which is one of the eight painted churches from Bucovina included in the UNESCO World Heritage List. You will then visit the Black Ceramics of Marginea, where you will visit the workshops in which ceramic objects are produced. You will be able to admire the craftsmanship of the local artisans, and will also be able to try the craft yourself. Next on your agenda is the Arbore Church, which was built between the 2nd of April and the 29th of August 1503 by Luca Arbore. The monastery, with it’s rectangular shape, was built of brick and stone extracted from the quarries in the region. You will then move to explore the area around Bicaz Gorge. Red Lake is the perfect destination for those who want to relax in an amazingly beautiful landscape, and also for those who want to enjoy the silence and the fresh air. The journey from Moldavia towards Transylvania is done through this nature’s wonder, the Bicaz Gorge. Following the discovery of this gorge, you will travel back to Brasov.

Return to Sibiel to enjoy dinner.  Day 3: Sibiel - Sibiu - Turda Salt Mine After breakfast, head to Sibiu’s old town to see the Big Square, Little Square, Bridge of Liars, Romano Catholic Cathedral, and the oldest house in town. Visit the Turda Salt mine, named one of the top 10 underground wonders in the world by National Geographic. Overnight in Turda town at Casa Ratiu. Day 4: Turda - Biertan Fortified Church - Sighisoara Enjoy breakfast and then visit the Fortified Church of Biertan, a UNESCO world heritage site. Visit Sighisoara’s medieval town, including the Clock Tower, the house where Vlad the Impaler was born, and the Church on the Hill. Overnight in Sighișoara. Day 5: Sighisoara - Prejmer Fortified Church - Bran Castle - Rasnov Fortress - Brasov After breakfast, discover the history of the Prejmer Fortified Church, Bran Castle, and Rasnov Fortress. Continue to Brasov and overnight at Casa Timar Pension. Day 6: Brasov - Peles Castle - Snagov Monastery - Bucharest Savor the pension breakfast before starting your final day with a visit to Peles Castle and Snagov Monastery. End your trip with a transfer to your hotel in Bucharest or the airport.

Day 1 Depart from Bucharest in the morning and we will stop for a rest at Hurezi Monastery. Since we are facing a challenging road, we will spend the night in the beautiful Ranca mountain resort, located on Transalpina Highway. Overnight at Ranca Resort Day 2 After breakfast we will venture on the fabulous Transalpina Highway. We will go across the road located at the highest altitude in the Carpathian Mountains. On our way from Transalpina to Sibiu we will pass through beautiful mountain villages: Jina, where we visit a genuine sheep station, and Sibiel Village with the Glass Icon Museum. In the evening, we will reach Sibiu, the most beautiful city in Romania. Overnight in Sibiu Day 3 Today, we will have a day trip out of Sibiu and visit Sighisoara Medieval Citadel, a UNESCO World Heritage site. You will discover rural Transylvania as well by visiting Biertan Saxon Village with the Fortified Church, a 500 years old church. Time for a delicious home-cooked lunch and a great opportunity to meet the locals. In the afternoon, we get back to Sibiu. Overnight in Sibiu Day 4 Time for another adventure: driving back to Bucharest on the famous Transfagarasan Highway. You will see Poenari Fortress as well, which was one of the strongholds of Vlad The Impaler. Another stop will be at Curtea de Arges Orthodox Monastery, the burial place for our monarchs. In the afternoon, we arrive in Bucharest.

Day 1 Your Transylvanian journey starts with a pick-up from your Cluj-Napoca hotel, heading towards Sibiu. Bask in the charm of this former European Union’s Cultural Capital, exploring its vibrant Main Squares, the impressive Metropolitan Cathedral, and the myth-shrouded Bridge of Lies. The day continues with an immersive visit to Bran Castle, the atmospheric fortress tied to the legend of Dracula. Meander through its enigmatic passages and halls, drinking in its historic allure. The first day concludes with an evening in Brasov. Your first stop is the medieval city of Sighișoara, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and the birthplace of the infamous Vlad Tepes, or Dracula. Following Sighișoara, you'll marvel at the commanding Rupea Fortress, a symbol of Transylvania's resilient past, set atop a hill with sweeping views of the surrounding landscape. The final destination of your tour is Biertan Fortified Church, an impressive 13th-century stronghold that echoes with history. Immerse yourself in its tales before returning to Cluj-Napoca, bringing your enriching two-day journey to a close.

Day 1: Bucharest to Bucovina You will be picked up by a professional guide from either your hotel in Bucharest or Otopeni Airport. From there you will endure a long drive to Bucovina, but you will benefit from a luxury Mercedes Vklass van or a similar car, making your entire vacation comfortable. You will begin by visiting the Humor Monastery and the Voronet monastery, before an overnight in Gura Humorului in a 3-star hotel (with breakfast included). Day 2: Gura Humorului, Vatra Moldovitei, Sucevita, Marginea, and Sucevita On your second day, you will visit the Moldovita Monastery, Ciumarna Passage, the Sucevita Monastery, and the Marginea Black Pottery. At the conclusion of your day you will overnight in Sucevita Village at a guest house, where you enjoy both dinner and breakfast which will consist of traditional local products. Day 3: Sucevita, Arbore, Gura Humorului, Bicaz Gorges, the Red Lake, and Brasov Your third day will begin with the Arbore Monastery, before you advance towards Bicaz Gorge, the Red Lake, and Brasov (including its old historic center). At the conclusion of your day, you will overnight in Brasov's downtown area. Day 4: Brasov, Viscri, Sighisoara, Biertan, and Brasov Day 4 will begin with a tour of the Viscri Saxon Village and fortified Saxon Church. You will then move on to explore the Sighioara Fortress, Dracula's "birthplace", and the Biertan Village. At the conclusion of your fourth day, you will once again overnight in Brasov. Day 5: Brasov, Prejmer, Poiana Brasov, Rasnov, Bran, and Moieciu Today you will visit the Prejmer Peasants Fortress, before exploring the Poiana Brasov Ski Resort and the Rasnov Fortress. You will then discover the magnificent Bran Castle, which is connected with the Dracula legend. Towards the end of your day you will explore Moieciu Village, before you once again overnight in Downtown Brasov. Day 6: Brasov, Azuga, Sinaia, Snagov, and Bucharest Your final day will begin with a Royal Rhein Winery tour in Azuga. From there you will discover Peles Castle, which is the summer residence of the royal family of Romania. Moving on, you will encounter the Snagov Orthodox Monastery, where the dreaded prince Vlad Tepes is buried. Your day will eventually conclude with your exploration of Lake Snagov, before you end your tour in Bucharest.
