Our Small-Group Trip to Libearty Bear Sanctuary from Brasov will take you from the city to Libearty Bear Sanctuary in Zarnesti. Over 110 brown bears saved from captivity or cruel conditions found a new and safe home in the 60 hectares sanctuary from Zarnesti, the largest of this type in Europe. The driver will take you to the Sanctuary, there you will meet the guide from the Sanctuary which will take you inside and explain you what is happening in this awesome place. The tour with the guide from the Bear Sanctuary takes about one hour and represents a walk along a forest path of approximately 2km. This way, you will discover the stories of the bears that are now living in the sanctuary, the purpose of this place and you may ask questions. The bears’ want to tell you something: This is not a zoo! It’s our forest. Please respect it! Do not throw us food, because we don’t need it! Please switch off your mobiles! Do not use the flashes! They bother us! Do not eat or drink in front of us! It’s rude! Stay together, follow the guide and listen patiently to our stories! Do not make any noise! Thus, we will know that you are our friends! NOTE: Children under five years are not allowed inside the “Libearty” Bear Sanctuary, for safety reasons, for the smooth running of the visit and for the welfare of the bears.

Your tour will begin as you are taken from your hotel in Brasov by a professional guide. Once having departed Brasov, you will travel to the most spectacular road in Europe: Transfagarasan. You will stop first and visit the Carta Cistercian Monastery .the monastery was built at the beginning of the 13th century, in the Gothic style, by the Cistercian monks who came to Transylvania from Burgundy, France. You will then continue to the mountains which host the Transfagarasan Highway, the most spectacular and beautiful mountain road in Europe. The road has been featured on the UK motor show Top Gear, and traverses up through the mountains uniting Transylvania with Valachia. Whilst there you will experience great scenes, noisy waterfalls, and with some luck you may even see wild animals such as the brown bear or black goats. Moving onward, you will travel to the Balea Glacier Lake, where you will have lunch at the Lake Balea Chalet. You can then take a walk around the lake, and in summer can also climb up the slope near the lake. From the top of this ridge you will have wonderful pictures with the peaks of the surrounding mountains and the lake and cottage Balea. In the winter between December and March you can visit the ice hotel, as well as the neighboring ice church. You will later return to Brasov in the evening, with wonderful memories of your trip into the sky. During the winter between November and July, we will go up by van to the hotel Cascada Balea 1446m (above the road is closed due to snow), from where we will take the cable car up to Lake Balea. The price of the cable car (100 lei - 24 euros uphill) + descent) is not included in the price of the tour.

The first attraction will be the Libearty Bear Sanctuary, a territory spanning across 69 hectares of coniferous forests where you will safely observe more than 90 rescued brown bears in their natural habitat. Since all bears have been rescued from poor conditions and here they can live freely in their natural environment, the sanctuary has been recognized as the most ethical one in the world. The trip will continue with a one-hour drive through the Carpathian Mountains after which you will arrive at Bran Castle, also known as Dracula's Castle. This historical monument was originally a fortress built between 1211 – 1225 by the Knights of the Teutonic Order. It distinguishes itself by the imposing towers and turrets and the mystery wave that shrouds people when they cross its threshold. Also, the castle was marketed to be the home of the main character from Bram Stocker’s novel “Dracula”.

The Transfăgărășan is a paved mountain road crossing the Carpathian Mountains, is the second-highest paved road in the country with an altitude of 2,042 metres (6,699 ft). The road also provides access to Bâlea Lake a glacier lake situated at 2,034 m of altitude. Here we will benefit from the fresh air and low temperature, admire the view of Trasnsilvania and have lunch. On the way back we will admire Bâlea waterfall, we'll stop at the Vidraru Dam to refresh us. It is very possible to meet brown bears on the route. On our way we will be able to see on a mountaintop a fortress built by Vlad the Impaler. This is Poienari fortress.

The starting point of your walk is just a short drive away from Brasov. Once you are there, you will head directly to the Seven Ladders Canyon (Canionul Sapte Scari) in the Piatra Mare range, part of the Southern Carpathian Mountains. This stunning gorge is famous for its steep ladders that take you up the rock walls past a series of rushing waterfalls. Upon arrival, you will set off along meadow and forest paths, reaching the canyon after a 45-minute hike. Afterwards, you can opt to rest here or enter the rock chasm with your experienced guide. You can then head inside, where you will spend the next 15 minutes or so crossing the bridges and climbing each of the near-vertical metal ladders that make up the gorge. As you go, you will enjoy thrilling close-up views of the tumbling waters and the towering rock walls around you. Following your trek, you will rejoin your group and choose between a 1.5-hour return route or a harder 2 to 3 hour trail, walking back through forests and glades to your vehicle. After your hike, your tour ends back at your Brașov hotel.

Enjoy a round-trip hike to the Seven Ladders Canyon, famous for its ladders and waterfalls, on this day trip from Brasov. Next, enjoy an easy 1.5-hour hike through the forest at the foothills of Piatra Mare mountain. The experience was very interesting, Charlie our guide was very nice and kind, it help us organize and also to do other activities around Brasov. The seven ladders are an easy route but ver nice and we had a lot of fun!

Amazing hike with Mihai. The guide has a lot of knowledge about nature. We were lucky and got to see a lot of animals, even bears! Mihai took care of us at all times and we felt no danger. Activity 100% recommended.

God hike route. The guide was very kind. It's a short route and we finished pretty quickly, so he suggested we go down a few zip lines. We had a great time, recommend the activity as it is not difficult.

Romanian nature is just magnificent! Our guide Coca told us many different interesting stories about local history, traditions, food and others. It was a very cool trip.

A really nice hike with the best guide. Tudor was very friendly and helpful and knew a lot about the place.I would 100% recommend it.
