Dresden: Boat Cruise, Wine Tasting and Buffet in German
- Duration: 9 hours
Our voucher was swapped for tickets at a booth beside the Elbe River and we joined a queue at dock number 4. The boat was large with lots of indoor and outdoor seating. Snacks and meals were available for purchase as well as a variety of drinks. The commentary was in German and English at various intervals of the ride and provided good information. We were lucky with 80 degree weather!
This was a very authentic local experience and not at all touristy. It was helpful to have some knowledge of German, although the guide had enough English to make it also an enjoyable experience without being able to speak German. There was a surprising amount of wine consumed, and very little hiking- just a gentle stroll from one drinking spot to another!
Very relaxing pleasant trip down the river to Meissen which is a beautiful town well worth visiting. Unfortunately the English commentary was difficult to hear and not given on the way back. Also upstairs, the preferred seating, was not opened and no explanation was available.
The ship is huge and comfortable. You can buy something to eat and drink on the board. Prices are high but quite normal as for such occasion. You can hear the infos about the things on the way in German and English.
You get a very good impression of greater Dresden with a funny, well informed guide. She even fulfilled our special wish to see the blue wonder. We really had a good time. I can highly recommend this tour.
