Full description

Meet your guide in the port of Ushuaia, then admire scenic views as you travel by bus and boat to Martillo Island on the mystical Beagle Channel. Visit the famous Harberton Ranch, which was founded in 1886 by the Anglican missionary Thomas Bridges, and learn about the history of the location.

Then it’s time to explore the island, home to a colony of Papúa (Gentoo) and Magellanic penguins. Wander along the island’s many nature trails as you get up close and personal to these friendly and charismatic penguins.

Take photos and admire the penguins in their natural habitat, which they also share with other birds including cormorants, petrels, vultures, and skúas.

After a 1-hour walk across the island, head back to the ranch and enjoy some free time to explore the historical buildings and the Marine Mammals and SeaBirds Museum. At the end of the experience, return to the city and relax whilst marveling at the beautiful landscape that unfolds along the way.

One of the most amazing experiences ever. Seeing penguins in their natural habitat and feeling like an intruder. This is better than any movie! These creatures are so incredibly cute. The tour is well organized, the guides are very knowledgeable and care about the birds a lot. Agustina was a great guide, kept the entire group under control and told us a lot. A special thanks to her for actually translating whatever she was saying in Spanish into English word to word and not just giving a short syllabus like many other guides do!

Fabrizzio was an amazing tour guide—so knowledgeable, attentive, and funny. Great attitude. We learned so much about Ushuaia and Argentina in general, in addition to the biodiversity and penguins. Hugo, the driver, was excellent and kept us safe. This tour was by Piratour, THE ONLY, provider allowed to bring folks to the island. It’s a bit pricey but totally worth it, especially if you aren’t planning going to Antartica to see penguins. Highly recommend. Gracias por todo!

Really cool your, penguins were obviously adorable but to my surprise my favorite part was actually a biologist guided sea life museum tour at the end. I’m an avid sealift fan but I learn multiple things I’d never heard before!! I’m addition, you actually get to walk amongst the penguins for an hour rather than dock next to the beach for 15 minutes like the other tours. We even saw a whale on the boat ride over!
