Then, navigate around the Bird's Island where you can appreciate species of the Tierra del Fuego's seabirds such as skuas, black-browed albatross, steam ducks, cauquenes, cook seagulls, and gray seagulls. After that, reach Sea Lion Island which also belongs to the Bridges Archipelago and is inhabited by 2 different species of sea lion. Arrive at the Les Eclaireurs (The Illuminators) Lighthouse where you will find imperial and rocky cormorants colonies. Hear the story of the collapse of the SS Monte Cervantes in 1930. Next, continue sailing East into the wonderful landscapes of the Beagle Channel surrounded by stunning mountain ranges. Admire both Puerto Almanza on the Argentina coast and the Puerto Williams Naval Base on the Chilean coast. After that, head onwards to Martillo Island, also known as Penguin Island where you will have the opportunity to observe a colony of Magellanic and Papua penguins in their natural habitat. Ushuaia: Full-Day Off-Roading and Horseback Riding Lake Tour

2. Ushuaia: Full-Day Off-Roading and Horseback Riding Lake Tour

Head off on a full-day excursion in the wilderness of southern Argentina with a 4WD tour, followed by horseback riding, and a walk around marvelous lakes with the majestic Andes Mountains surrounding you. Start your day bright and early with a pickup at your hotel, and head straight to the lake region by driving on the national route N°3, where you will cross peat valleys and the Andes Mountains through the Garibaldi Pass. Continue along the road through old trails used for logging, marveling at the deep valleys around you as your expert local guide tells you the history of the route and the mountains. Once you cross the iconic Andes Mountains, catch a glimpse of the glorious Lago Escondido, before descending to its borders, where you'll begin your off-roading adventure. Once there, stop for a rest to meet your horses, and enjoy a delicious snack. Then, hop on your horse, specially chosen according to each person's riding experience, and enjoy a leisurely ride for about 30 minutes. Next, tuck into a local lunch on the side of one of the largest lakes in Argentina, the Lago Fagnano, including an Argentine platter of cheeses and charcuterie as a starter, followed by the main dish, and tea or coffee. After lunch, take a walk to enjoy the immensity of the Lake Fagnano up close, before returning to Ushuaia.

What people are saying about Ushuaia

We had a fantastic time on this trip, the canoeing was great fun and not too physically challenging, the guides were fantastic at keeping us on track and entertained. Santiago our trekking guide was very friendly bi-lingual and highly knowledgable about the local history, nature and generally about ushuaia. Lunch was delicous. Overall very satisfied and would highly recommend the trip to all.

Magnificent tour of the hinterland of Ushuaia in the company of Jorge on the immense family lands by the lakes, where they raise horses. Break and lunch in the comfortable cabins of their family. Adorable people who share the characteristics and history of the region, impressive 4x4 trips, well-trained and quiet horses, good local meals and superb landscapes.

I had a wonderful day with my guide Nicolas. He took a lot of time to show and explain everything to me. Nicolas was very knowledgeable in all areas and I would do a tour like this again at any time, highly recommended!

Coco was a very friendly and knowledgeable guide. Our party of four all had a fantastic time. A highlight was a coffee break in a beautiful spot along a river with coffee and delicious Argentinian sweets.

Really well balanced day. Great fun, interesting and never a dull moment!
