    Explore the history of Tunisia on this half-day tour to Carthage and Sidi Bou Said from Tunis. First you’ll visit Carthage, founded in 814 B.C. The earliest settlements can still be seen on Byrsa Hill, just below the renowned Carthage National Museum. See the remains of two port basins, evidence of Carthaginian mastery of the sea. Discover the Tophet, a burial ground and a sanctuary of ancient deities.   Continue to Sidi Bou Said, a 5-kilometer drive from Carthage. This picturesque town is perched high on a cliff top overlooking the Mediterranean. Stroll through winding cobbled streets, and admire the whitewashed buildings with contrasting blue doors and ornate window grids. Wander around the boutiques and shop for souvenirs, or relax in a Moorish cafe. Afterwards you’ll be dropped off back in Tunis.

    I booked two trips with Yahoo travel: A half-day tour of Carthage and Sidi Bou Said, and the next day a trip to Dougga. My tour guide, Hussain, and driver Abdullah were both fantastic. Hussain had great historical knowledge which he combined with insights into modern Tunisian life. Abdullah managed all the travel and logistics with ease and grace including coping with early morning rush-hour traffic. I would not have booked the trip to Dougga if Hussain had not suggested it and I am so glad he did. It is well worth the trip and one of the most interesting historic sites I have ever visited. I highly recommend Yahoo travel and the sightseeing dream team of Hussain and Abduallah.

    This was the perfect way to experience these two places. Hassen (our guide) was so knowledgeable and funny. His anecdotes brought history to life! The logistics were painless, with the driver Mickey and Hassen arriving on time to my hotel in Gammarth, then stopping any time I wanted to take a photo or ask a question.
