Full description
Enjoy a wonderful day trip along the fabled Coast of the Gods – Costa degli Dei – to the southern tip of the Italian boot. Discover the capital of Reggio Calabria overlooking the sunny island of Sicily and visit the fishing village of Scilla in the afternoon. Start the tour in the morning in the center of the largest city of Calabria – Reggio di Calabria – the birthplace of Gianni Versace. The route takes you between art, culture, and shopping in the footsteps of Romans and Byzantines through the former Greek region. In addition to the numerous boutiques and shops, you can admire the newly renovated National Museum. Here you’ll also find the two famous Riace bronzes. Stroll along the scenic waterfront and enjoy the view of Sicily and the Aeolian Islands. On clear days you can catch a glimpse of Mount Etna. In the afternoon you’ll visit the fishing village of Scilla. According to the legend, this is where Odysseus fought against the monster Scylla and the enchanted princess still lives below the fort. The little Venice of Calabria will enchant you as you stroll through the old fishing district of Chianalea. Marvel at the small fishing boats that stand in front of every house instead of cars, and learn more about the swordfish that is caught from May to August. Enjoy a tasty ice cream on one of the inviting terraces, where you can admire the stunning views.

in tropea 99% of the tourists are German. so the tour is in German. you have to know that. the guides are great and give us the main information in Italian. Before leaving Brazil you have to study a minimum of Italian. otherwise the excursion is excellent. reggio is beautiful and the Italians are friendly. Scilia is called Venice of the South, it has its charms.

My voucher not recognized on site. I wasn't allowed to ride.

First remark: the travel description says pick-up at 8 a.m. in Tropea. After an email exchange with GYG before my arrival, however, I was informed of 7:30 a.m. The bus actually left at around 7:45. So be careful! BUT MUCH WORSE: my voucher (paper format) was not recognized by the bus driver or in front of the tour guide on site !!! After a lot of back and forth, they just left me in the parking lot! All other guests who had booked on site were allowed to get on ... I was allowed to walk back to the hotel. What a disappointment! After I complained to the Berlin office, I got my money refunded, but unfortunately that didn't make up for the bitter disappointment.
