1. Tromsø: Camp Tamok Snowmobiling & Guided Ice Domes Visit
Venture into the wilderness and experience the Arctic wilderness on a guided snowmobile tour and visit the Tromsø Ice Domes. Meet in the city center of Tromsø, and travel to the wilderness center in Camp Tamok, located about 90 minutes outside of the city. Upon arrival at the center, you will be provided with state-of-the-art snowmobiling suits and helmets. Begin with a thorough safety introduction and practical demonstration. You don't need any previous skills to drive a snowmobile, all you need is a normal physical condition. You will be driving in pairs, one driver and one passenger on each snowmobile, with the opportunity to switch places during the trip. The tour will bring you past scenic mountains and through the dramatic snow-covered Finn Valley. Ride on the snowmobiling track for approximately 2 hours, depending on the weather and snow conditions. After the snowmobiling part of the tour, visit the Ice Domes where the ice bar, ice cinema, ice suites, and ice restaurant have themes ranging from local Sami culture to the Northern Lights conveyed through beautiful colored lighting and wonderful ice sculptures. At the Ice Domes, join a guided tour and learn about the construction process of the ice hotel and the impact the snow has on the survival of arctic animals. There will be time to walk around freely and ask the experienced guide questions, as well as admire the unique snow and ice art carved by professional artists. A non-alcoholic ice shot at the stunning ice bar is complimentary. During this tour, pay a visit to the small herd of reindeer located at the Ice Domes for feeding time, before heading back to Tromsø.
