Full description

Your comfortable coach will depart from the Magic Ice Bar for the scenic 75-minute drive to this evocative fairytale venue in the Arctic wilderness. Before visiting the magnificent Tromsø Ice Domes, go on an outdoor winter adventure. The snowmobiling activity lasts 90-minutes and journeys through untouched Arctic wilderness. Drivers will drive in pairs and have the chance to switch halfway during the track. Each driver must be 18 and hold a valid driver's license.  After the snowmobiling tour, be welcomed inside the Tromsø Ice Domes for a guided tour. Set among high mountains in the beautiful Tamok Valley, Tromso Ice Domes is built every year as the Polar Night approaches. The snow and ice art reflects the unique bond between man and nature in a breath-taking manner. The ice bar, ice cinema, ice bedrooms, and ice restaurant have themes ranging from local Sami culture to the northern lights, conveyed through beautiful colored lighting and wonderful ice sculptures.  At the Ice Domes, join a guided tour and learn about the construction process of an ice hotel and the impact the snow has for the survival of our arctic animals. There will be time to walk around freely and ask questions of the experienced guide. A non-alcoholic ice shot at the stunning ice bar is complimentary. You will be able to purchase other drinks, which will be served in the ice restaurant or ice bar.

A nice experience, but went too slow in column driving. I wish the snowmobile ride was much longer. It was fun to be able to ride fast on the scooter in open land when it was not driving in a column. The ice domes were exciting to look at, the guide was very good at telling the story behind the construction of the domes and the design of the statues. You had plenty of time to look around alone in the different rooms. The lunch in the lavvo was perfectly ok.

Everything has wonderful fkt. First the pick up and then the drive to the camp. There we found out that in the event of an accident you have to pay 6,000 kroner (600 euros) for damage, but you can easily secure this by paying 150 kroner (15 euros) with a card on the spot. Then you get really cool equipment from the team: helmet, very warm thermal suit, boots, balaclava and gloves. -> I still recommend two pairs of socks and two pairs of gloves (preferably light/thin ones that you can easily pull under a second pair). The team then gives a short introduction to controlling the snowmobile. I have to admit that I was terrified of those things. I didn't want to drive alone and I didn't want to be at the front either :) and what happened? I was allowed to ride alone and right behind our guide, BUT. it was the best thing that could have happened to me. After 2 minutes I got the hang of it and when everyone changed after 1/2 of the route, I was allowed to continue driving.

Snowmobiling was SO much fun! Great team, too. Ice Domes visit was ok - interesting to know how they build these structures, but too much time spent visiting them. Only so much time you can spend in there! Biggest issue with this tour (and others we took) was the catering (lunch). Food not good, and very disorganised. Think the team feel they need to do this, to offer value for money, but they really don’t need to do this. Especially as food is their weak-spot. People will still be happy to pay for the snowmobiling, which is awesome!
