Full description
Take an unforgettable reindeer sled journey through snow-covered landscapes under the Northern Lights, learn about Norway’s Sámi culture, and enjoy a traditional warm meal on a guided excursion from Tromso. After being picked up in Tromso, take in the scenic views on the way. Once you arrive, experience reindeer sledding, the oldest known form of transport in the north and central part of the Sámi culture. Meet the gentle reindeer, the true icon of the arctic, and jump aboard the sled, which takes place as a "raid" where each reindeer and sled are bound together in a long row with the lead reindeer in the front. Learn about the indigenous Sámi people from your Sámi guide. Get to know their past, present, and future history, see Sámi artifacts, and hear traditional stories. Enjoy a warm Sámi traditional meal called Bidos and have some drinks to get warmed up. If you are lucky you will have the chance to spot the natural phenomenon of the Northern lights.

After about an hour we were at the reindeer farm. As soon as we got out we could admire the Northern Lights. They accompanied us throughout the sleigh ride. They also stayed while we were allowed to feed the reindeer. Not just a bit of hay through the fence. We got a bucket of shot and were able to get very close to the animals in the enclosure. With very soft lips they ate the croquettes out of your hand. At the end our host told very interesting about the life of the Sami people with the reindeer. The northern lights stayed over the farm until the end. What an experience!
