Full description

Mush your own husky team on this unique dog sledding evening tour through snowy terrain, surrounded by incredible mountain landscapes and scenic fjords.

If you're lucky, you might have the magical Northern Lights dancing on top of you. You do not need any previous skills to mush your own husky team. All you need is reasonable physical health and an eagerness to try something new. Join an authentic experience at the wilderness center Camp Tamok, a 90-minute scenic bus drive away from the city center of Tromsø. Upon arrival at the camp, get dressed in warm winter clothes and the other required gear for your dogsledding activity.

Your guides will then give thorough safety instructions and a practical demonstration on how to steer your own sled. Once you are ready, you will embark on your journey: two people will share each sled and a dog team.

One is the "musher" (driver) and the other can sit back and enjoy the ride. (If your group includes children, each child must be accompanied by an adult.) You will get the chance to switch places midway during the 10 to 12 kilometer dog sledding trail. Depending on snow conditions, you will spend up to 1 hour and 30 minutes completing it.

Even though this tour is not focused on hunting the Northern Lights, being outside on a dark winter evening might give a wonderful opportunity to witness the lights. After the tour, you will be served a hot meal in a traditional Northern Norwegian setting around the open fire in a reindeer herder's tent. After relaxing and warming up, board the bus back to the city and reflect on a memorable adventure.

Very fun experience! A bit harder than expected as you have to run a few uphills in the beginning, but the sledding itself was super fun. The bus ride was nice and easy, although quite long (1,5 hrs). The food was also good. Altogether a great trip, but the only negative part was that it felt very rushed, and we did not get a chance to properly get to know/ cuddle the dogs. It was just rushing from one thing to the next and then back to the bus. Would highly recommend adding time with the dogs before/after the sled ride!

Really fun experience! It was great to see all of the dogs. The sledding was fun. The guides were lovely and the food was traditional Norwegian food so it was a great cultural experience. Only issue was that my hands and feet were painfully cold when I was outside which was uncomfortable.
