Full description
The tour starts with pickup from Tromsø and heads out into the natural landscape of the surrounding fjords to the west side of the city. Immerse yourself in the stunning scenery around you and experience what the arctic wilderness has to offer - meanwhile contributing to scientific data collection! First stop is Kvaløya, one of Norway’s biggest and most beautiful islands. Here, take advantage of the viewpoint to admire the breathtaking landscapes of the fjords, mountains, beaches, lakes, forests, and small villages in the countryside of Tromsø. Listen to your guide talk about the native flora and fauna of the region and watch out for the variety of wildlife that lives here including otters, reindeer and sea birds. When you’ve built up an appetite from your wilderness exploration, enjoy a picnic in the peaceful atmosphere surrounded by the stunning views and sounds of nature. During the activity, we'll stop by the water and educate you on our ongoing micro-plastics project. Once you understand the scientific method we are following, we go together to the sand and put the method and knowledge into practice. We'll collect data samples together and the data will be collected and shared with our research partners. This data is important as it will be used to inform policy makers and research institutions about plastics in our oceans. Come with us and your vacation in Northern Norway will contribute to the fight against micro plastics!

A beautiful tour of Kvaloya, along the coast. Magnificent views of beaches and mountains. Many thanks to our guide Antony, he informed us well and spoiled us with a delicious snack at the foot of the glacier. On the way back we saw reindeer up close. What an eventful trip. Thank you Antony
