Full description

Combine a dog sledding adventure followed by a guided visit to the magical Tromsø Ice Domes. Set among high mountains in the beautiful Tamok Valley, the Tromsø Ice Domes are built every year as the Polar Night approaches. For this tour, you will be picked up from the city center of Tromsø, from which you will be taken to the wilderness center in Camp Tamok. Upon arrival at Tromsø Ice Domes, receive warm winter clothing and learn how to steer the dog sled.

Dog sledding with the Alaskan huskies is an active experience. The sled team consists of two and two people on one sled sharing a team of huskies. Teamwork is essential in dog sledding and together with the team, you will help to push on parts of the tour. After the dog sledding, visit the Ice Domes where the ice bar, cinema, and suites have themes ranging from local Sami culture to the Northern Lights conveyed through beautiful colored lighting and wonderful ice sculptures.

Join a guided tour and learn about the construction process of the ice hotel and the impact the snow has on the survival of Arctic animals. There will be time to walk around freely and ask questions to the experienced guide. You will be able to purchase other drinks at the ice restaurant or ice bar. During this combination tour, you will get a chance to visit a small herd of reindeer near the Ice Domes for reindeer feeding.

The ride getting there from Tromso was relaxing and allowed us to see the beautiful scenery along the way. We were given snow suits, boots and gloves and they kept me nice and warm. I highly recommend you do both sitting and steering the dog sleds. I was afraid to steer at first but it is super simple. If you're concerned about not stopping the sled, for reference I'm 130 lbs and the girl in front of me was probably less and both of us had no issues. The dogs were amazing and the path we traveled on offered wonderful views. Afterwards we visited with the dogs. The dog owners/handlers were all friendly and answered any questions about the dogs and the puppies in training. Afterwards we had soup in a nice, warm tent, and finished up with the ice domes and caught a wonderful view of the Northern Lights dancing in the sky. Out of whale watching, reindeer sledding, Northern Lights tour (the next day the Northern Lights barely appeared), and dog sledding, I enjoyed this adventure the most.

Ellecent day the huskies where so lovely and really looking forward cto there run are was excellent taking us on trails which where very picturesque kits quite exhilarating as the huskies pull at quite a speed , ther are two to a sled on sitting one driving very easy to drive . Then after lunch in a teepee flood stew a 2 minute walk to the ice domes which is something completely different there is plenty of time to see everything & a short movie on the making of the dome wasn’t completely finished as the snow arrived late this year

Our first time with this kind of activity. Was such an adventure. The weather was not good for the dogs and we had to work a lot to help them to transport us. Our dogs only wanted to play and they did not want to do much that day. The guide was amazing, he told us everything about the sledge and how to manage. I fell while I was driving but everything was under control. Seems easy but it is not :) at least for beginners. They provide with perfect clothes, and apparently it was not really cold that day. Boots did not work for me, my feet were cold and not comfortable for running and pushing in the snow, mine were better actually. For my husband their boots were fine. We met a woman there, a guide from Poland who had awesome stories. Lunch was excellent and the visit to ice domes totally worthy.
