From Tromso: 3-Hour Polar Fishing Adventure

1. From Tromso: 3-Hour Polar Fishing Adventure

Join local fishermen on an unforgettable fishing trip where you will experience true arctic marine wildlife. Travel outside the city to the best fishing spots in the sounds and fjords where forefathers have been fishing for centuries. The local 'pirates' will tell you old tales and traditions that the ancestors have passed on through the generations. All the equipment you need will be provided on our boat Capella; from the rods and tackles through to warm insulated suits and all safety gear.   Experience the power of nature, this is just a fantastic experience. When the fish are biting and pulses are rising from the tension, the thrill of the catch will take you out of your everyday life. This is the only moment that matters, the rest can wait for another day. It's a moment that, when later recounted, the fish will usually get bigger and bigger with the retellings. You will catch the fish and the tour operator will serve the catch. Fresh fish, straight from the sea to the plate. Relax and enjoy your meal surrounded by the magnificent landscape with the best northern Norwegian hospitality.

Tromsø: Luxury Catamaran Fishing Trip

2. Tromsø: Luxury Catamaran Fishing Trip

Enjoy a fantastic fishing tour from Tromsø—this is not an ordinary fishing trip. When you arrive onboard, feel the warm and cozy atmosphere. The saloon is comfortable but offers a high standard. The friendly staff will have warm coffee and tea waiting for you. The panoramic saloon is the best place to be while sailing slowly or cruising to the fishing area, a fishing spot where you can watch the Tromsø Island from a sea view. After a short trip, you will be able to start trying to catch fish. Of course, there is no 100% fishing guarantee, but the chance you’ll catch something to eat on the way back is high. Sit back and relax as the staff cooks the very fresh fish for you on our way back to the city.

You’ll see where the historic ship Tirpitz ended its days, learn about Tromsø’s rich history, and have the chance to snap some impressive photos. The catamaran will continue on to Rystraumen, where you’ll get close to one of Norway's strongest ocean currents. Relax on the catamaran net, enjoy the spacious indoor lounge, or take the opportunity to fish. Along the way, enjoy local specialties like dried reindeer meat, stockfish, brown cheese, lefse, and other tasty delicacies. Finally, you’ll be returned to shore, having had an experience you’ll never forget.

From Tromsø: Hella Guided Day Trip

4. From Tromsø: Hella Guided Day Trip

The tour starts in Tromsø city center where we will be picked up by bus and taken on a scenic drive to Hella. Apart from being a popular recreational area along the coast, Hella is also home to a small village of old timber houses that were moved from the city centre of Tromsø in the 1960’s in order to be preserved. Walking among these houses really feels like a stroll back in time. Our guide will take you on a walk around the area, telling stories about the past and present. There will be time for lunch inside our café or outside by the seaside. Since Hella is a well-known fishing spot to any local, you are welcome to bring your own fishing rod and use the spare time for fishing, before we drive you back to Tromsø.

Tromsø: Stories and tastes of the Arctic

5. Tromsø: Stories and tastes of the Arctic

Venture through the city center of Tromsø with a professional guide and learn about the city's rich culture and historical events. Tromsø is commonly known as the gateway to the Arctic, as the city has been the starting point for several hunting, research and polar expeditions throughout history. Visit the Bangsundbrygga dock, where you can see the last existing row of warehouses in Tromsø that line the seafront. These buildings have served as warehouses for lumber, fish and catch from the Arctic hunting. Today one of these buildings houses the Full Stream experience center,  where you will discover the Tromsø region's ancient fishing history up until the early 1900s. At Full Steam, you will be greeted by a host who will guide you through the important story of cod fishing in the region. Here you will get the chance to see, hear, touch and taste the story, with samples of local cod delicacies.

What people are saying about Troms County

Super, the boat driver was pure madness. He has steered the catamaran, explained the fishing rods, prepared the food, repositioned the catamaran, helped pull out the fish, answered radio calls, filleted the cod and served a huge pot of excellent fish soup within minutes of returning to port. Fishing luck is part of it, but if several people are out there will certainly be enough fish caught.

the trip is excellent! firstly I booked the fishing trip, but since I was the only one, I winded up joining the cruise tour. it was amazing that we went on the tour around the fjords and we saw snows mountains and I got a super big fish! all the crew members were super nice, the cooked fish soup and tapas for us! norway is amazing, and this trip is definitely worth it!

Great day, very warm welcome, breathtaking scenery. Beautiful and warm moment. Very well organized. Many thanks to POLAR and the crew. A cuckoo clock from France. Anne Marie and Jacqueline See you next year

Super fun, great experience. The staff is also nice and very helpful, and the dogs are lovely and expert fishermen! Don't miss out on the opportunity to take some fish home with you!

You MUST do that. The most amazing activity of our week in Tromsø. Fantastic boat, super nice skipper - the first fish we caught ourselves - and the fish soup was delicious!!
