During both world wars, Štanjel was uniquely influenced by a particular architect and mayor at the time, Maks Fabiani. He preserved the essence of the village whilst using his creative finesse to rejuvenate the newly-renovated public structures. Fabiani’s most notable work in Štanjel involved the restoration of Ferrari Villa and the design of the extraordinary Ferrari Garden park, lauded as the most significant park landscaping in Slovenia from the inter-war period. Giovanni and Mira were excellent and welcoming hosts who created absolutely marvelous, Trieste cuisine. Our translator, Virginia did a marvelous job communicating through the languages as we experienced the flavors of the Adriatic, locally made wine and homemade Grappa over a four hour tour we didn't want to end.

We had lunch at a wonderful mansion in a residential area on a hill overlooking the city of Trieste. The interior taste was excellent, and the traditional dishes were delicious. The problem is that the final contacts on the localhost didn't reach the last minute.

Very good experience! Our host, Dejan, was very knowledgeable. Only recommendation is to make pickup time more clear- website said between 7:45-8 but we didn’t get picked up until 9:30. Otherwise perfect, thank you!

A little sparse on historical details and VERY casual enjoyment of Prosecco.
