Full description
Discover the secrets of the Eternal City and learn of its rich history throughout the centuries, stopping at the most breathtaking sites, monuments and squares along the way. Arrive at the office and meet your expert guide to begin with an introduction and stroll along the famous Imperial Forum road and admire the ruins of the Roman Forum on either side before arriving at Piazza Venezia and Trajan’s Column. From here the next stop is the Trevi Fountain, the most famous fountain in Rome. Hear the connection between water and the city as the guide points out interesting details in its beautiful facade. From the Trevi, pass through the busy shopping street of Via del Corso and into Piazza di Pietra, a little-known square that is home to the Temple of Hadrian. Walk further into the historic center along the cobbles and come upon the Pantheon, the most well-preserved building in Rome. Hear the amazing feats in Roman architecture and marvel at its dome, which is the largest unreinforced concrete dome in the world. Inside, peer up at its oculus and learn of the famous figures in history whose tombs are inside, such as the artist Raphael. Just near the Pantheon there is the small church of Santa Maria Sopra Minerva and Bernini’s beloved Elephant statue standing just outside. Continue from here to Largo di Torre Argentina, which is believed to be the site of Julius Caesar's assassination. The final stop will be Piazza Navona, the largest and most elegant square in Rome and also the site of Bernini’s Fountain of Four Rivers. Learn about the wonderful elements that comprise this beautiful fountain and the meaning behind them. Finish up with a tasty authentic Italian gelato as you say farewell!

The guide was great and the content very interesting… but it didn’t match the description. We’d picked this tour specifically because it included Largo di Torre Argentina (that was my search term, which brought up this tour), but it was not in fact included. The tour description also promised ‘Gelato included!’, but it was not. Finally, the meet up time and location was changed late in the day and not well organised. I’m still giving 4 stars because Ani was great and Nick really worked to get the problems resolved, but I’d hesitate to book again with this firm.

Relaxed and Informative

This walking tour was fun, relaxed and very informative. The tour allowed us a great insight into the history behind Rome and all of its stunning structures. Our tour guide, Angela, was a wealth of knowledge and was able to answer any questions we had. She was even kind enough to show us a great part of Rome to have dinner after the tour.

Fantastic Guide

Angela, who was our guide was amazing and made our whole trip because the two other trips we booked through your company were awful. The first was cancelled with no feasible explanation and the second was ridiculous and we were so late that we did not see anything we were supposed to.
