Full description
You have 1400 years of history to cover, but don't worry, tours are limited to 6 guests, so you won't miss a thing. First, get to know Sensoji Temple, Tokyo's essential sightseeing spot. Learn the history and secrets of this ancient place, while participating in the temple and shrine-visiting rituals.  You will have an opportunity to try your luck drawing a paper fortune. Take a detour into the quiet back streets to pick up some freshly-made 'melon pan' sweet bread, and enjoy it in the shade on the temple grounds. After that, escape into the 'Rokku' area: Asakusa's traditional entertainment district, always bustling yet rarely busy. Walk through the Meiji period into the present day, with stops along the way for more Japanese sweet snacks. This district of endless novelty — movies, comedians, and exotic animals — became a quaint neighbourhood of handicrafts and nostalgia. Your guide will provide vivid descriptions of its complex, colourful history. Speaking of your guide, most have gone through a 3-month training course to become fully qualified for guiding this course and they have all passed a rigorous certification process.

Thank you Taka! Such an interesting tour

A very instructive tour , and fantastic experience . Not only we learned so much historical facts as our guide Taka was so knowledgeable , but we were also given a lovely tour of the area from alongside the river , taken for an amazing view at the top of the contemporary information building ( The design and architecture of it in itself very interesting ) . This was followed by a tour of very charming and authentic back streets in the vicinity . We learned so much and we were lucky to have Taka for ourselves as he did not have other bookings that morning . A big Origato Kata , you made a memorable moment of our time with you .

It is a very interesting tour; tasting the local food with the help of a local is a great way to approach this culture so far from ours and the explanations, availability and treatment of our guide, Yasu, are unpayable
