Gain privileged access to one of the official residences of His Majesty the King and admire the beautiful collections on display as you make your way from room to room. The term "state rooms" refers to the public rooms of a palace, in which monarchs receive, reward, and entertain their subjects and visiting dignitaries. Today the state rooms at Buckingham Palace are used extensively by The King and members of the Royal Family to receive and entertain their guests on state, ceremonial, and official occasions. The state rooms are furnished with many of the greatest treasures from the Royal Collection, including paintings by Rembrandt and Rubens, sculptures by Canova, exquisite examples of Sèvres porcelain, and some of the finest English and French furniture in the world. At the end of your tour, the popular Garden Café is the perfect place to gather and enjoy views across the famous lawn.

Buckingham Palace: The Royal Mews Entrance Ticket

2. Buckingham Palace: The Royal Mews Entrance Ticket

The Royal Mews is an important branch of the Lord Chamberlain's Office and provides road transport for The King and members of the Royal Family by both horse-drawn carriage and motor car. It is also one of the finest working stables still in existence, responsible for the training of the Windsor Greys and Cleveland Bays, the horses that pull the royal carriages. Among the historic coaches and carriages on display is the spectacular new Diamond Jubilee State Coach, which conveyed Queen Elizabeth II on the State Opening of Parliament on 4 June 2014. What's more, cast your eye over the luxurious Australian State Coach, with central heating and electric windows, which carried Queen Elizabeth II and The Duke of Edinburgh from Westminster Abbey to Buckingham Palace after the Royal Wedding in 2011. The most dazzling of all is the Gold State Coach, which has been used at every coronation since that of George IV in 1821.  Among the vehicles on display, you can also find the Irish State Coach, purchased by Queen Victoria in 1852. Queen Victoria, King George VI and Queen Elizabeth II have all travelled to the State Opening of Parliament in this carriage.  During your visit to the Royal Mews, relish the opportunity to see some of The Kings horses that draw the coaches and carriages housed in the Mews. Visitors to the Royal Mews can also see some of the fine livery worn by The Queen’s coachmen. Apart from a few small details, it remains much the same as it was in Victorian times.  Remarkably, some of the tailors used for production of liveries today are the same companies employed during the reign of George III in the 18th century.

London: Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II Memorial Walking Tour

8. London: Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II Memorial Walking Tour

We start the tour with Westminster Abbey where Her Majesty the Queen was married in 1947 and crowned in 1953. It is the burial place of Kings & Queens from the 11th century and where they have all been crowned since 1066. The current splendid gothic church held the Queen's funeral, as per tradition, on the 19th of September 2022. Next to the Abbey is the Palace of Westminster in which are the Houses of Parliament. This Palace was a royal residence from 1040-1512 and thereafter exclusively Parliament. Now we follow the funeral procession route to St. James's Park, the oldest of London's royal parks. This park has been open to the public for centuries and it's next to the great royal avenue, The Mall. Along The Mall, we see Marlborough House, the house where the Queen visited her widowed grandmother Queen Mary between 1936 and 1953, the year of her death. In 1956, the Queen gave the house to the Commonwealth Secretariat. Beside it, we view St. James's Palace built for King Henry VIII in the 1530s. Here the Queen's Accession was first proclaimed after her father's death was announced in 1952 and similarly the new King Charles III was proclaimed on the 11th of September 2022. The King lived here for a few years as Prince of Wales following his separation from his first wife Diana, Princess of Wales. The adjoining residence is Clarence House where the Queen, Princess Elizabeth, lived the first 4 years of her married life. As she became Queen she moved out and her widowed mother moved in and resided there until her death in 2002. We end at Buckingham Palace where the Queen lived whilst still Princess with her parents until 1947 and then again as Queen from 1952 until her recent death. This is one of the more recent royal residences acquired from the Duke of Buckingham by King George III in 1761 and used as a smaller private residence until enlarged into a palace in the 1820s for King George IV and again in the 1840s for Queen Victoria
