  • From London: Oxford and Cotswolds Villages Day Trip

    1. From London: Oxford and Cotswolds Villages Day Trip

Depart London and travel by luxury Mercedes mini-coach to spend the morning exploring the beautiful university city of Oxford. Wander amongst the listed buildings and colleges, and climb one of the vantage points to get breathtaking views of the dreaming spires. Marvel at masterpieces of art and antiquities at the Ashmolean Museum, and then head towards the quaint villages of the Cotswolds to see tiny cottages built from traditional stone. Visit the village of Burford, the Gateway to the Cotswolds, and experience the small market town with enormous character and depth. Stop at an additional Cotswold village. Then, make the short journey to Bibury and take the opportunity to stroll to the famous Arlington Row.

What a fabulous day! The Cotswolds are absolutely charming. The perfect cure to 9 days in the City. Oxford was beautiful with so much history. Our guide, Samuel (Jesus ), was knowledgeable and had a great sense of humor. He kept our group running on time throughout the day. Not an easy task with 14 tourist. He also had great recommendations of places to go and things to eat. He recommended milk tea and scones, and even gave very detailed instructions on the proper way to eat a scone, so that we didn’t embarrass ourselves ( or our guide) .

Isobel was our guide and David was our Tour driver. Isobel was very knowledgeable and helped us get around the beautiful Cotswold villages. The tour was well planned and we had ample time at every village to explore with Isobel highlighting the history and significance of each place. David and Isobel were both kind and even helped us to choose the best place to have our lunch and shopping. The tour even included stops at the eccentric lavender, poppy and wild flower fields. The tour along with Isobel and David made our day special.

This was such a great tour! Our guide Dan, aka Danny the Champion of the World, was fantastic! He had all kinds of information about each stop and each small town. The lodging was excellent in Stratford-upon-Avon-we had more space in our hotel room than we had in London- and we never started the day before 9 am. We were given enough time in each place we visited. Please note that you are on your own at all the destinations, not moving with a guide and a group. I enjoyed this because I could spend more time where I wanted and not have to keep up with the others. For example, we had a lot of time at Warwick Castle and after touring it my friend and I headed into the town to explore without having to worry about staying with the others. I would definitely do another tour with this company.

Recommended for travelers who can't decide which area of Oxford & Cotswold to visit. Guide will take you to some of the most popular sites (nearby St. Mary's church, Bibury, and Burford) and introduce the detailed backgrounds of the places, so you don't need to plan/study the sightseeing places in advance. Details of places are explained in the bus on the way to the sites, and when you arrive the sites, you can travel on your own and free to spend more time on the places you like. As usual tour with guides does, there is time limit for each site (Oxford, Bibury and Burford), so it's better to think the list of priority to visit in the bus.

Oxford was a nice town but the time was not enough to explore the whole town, will definitely want to go again but next time maybe go for a full day at least. View from St Mary's chapel was superb. Cotswold trip was really nice, John the guide walked us around Bibury and told us interesting stories about some of the houses there. The mini coach was comfortable except for the seat belt, which made your side a bit sore. John the guide cum driver had a good sense of humour.

Fabulous trip. Highly recommended. Isabelle and Dave were very knowledgeable guides.

Great day trip — all was organised well and John (our driver) did an excellent job!
