    Experience the beauty of Terceira by minibus on a full-day tour of the entire island, including lunch in a typical restaurant. Tours typically start at 09:00 and end at approximately 18:30. Part of the 9 volcanic islands of the Azores Archipelago, Terceira is located in the central group (Terceira, Graciosa, São Jorge, Pico and Faial) and, like all the islands of the Azores, boasts its own unique landscape, culture and traditions. Visit the inside of Europe's only empty volcano at Algar do Carvão, and marvel at fields surrounded by stone walls.     Meet your driver at your accommodation in Angra do Heriosmo, Praia de Vitoria, or Lajes, and start your half-day tour in an air-conditioned minivan. Explore Algar do Carvão, an empty volcano and its caves with remarkable unique mineralogical characteristics. The 90-meter-deep volcanic chimney formed approximately 3,200 years ago after the magma drained from the main chimney receding to the magma chamber. Next up is Furnas do Enxofre. Walk around a fumaroles field and see sulfur gas coming out from the ground. Contemplate the beautiful natural swimming pool at Biscoitos, surrounded by black lava and with a few colorful fishing boats anchored alongside.     Terceira offers a varied range of hiking options, from the forested hills in the center to the lava fields along the north coast. The rural center of the island is fun for hiking too, with the 1,000-meter-high volcano of Lagoa Negra being covered in forests. Like the other Azores, there are many birds, flowers, and exotic plants in this region. These are all enchanting, even those which are not endemic to these islands. Your guide will take you through the best sites on these trails, and when possible will also explain to you some of the local vegetation and its impact on nature. You will have all of the best breathtaking views pointed out to you, some of which you might not have noticed on your own.

    Fasten your seatbelt and begin your adventure through the interior of the island of Terceira. On this trip, you will be riding in Jeeps suitably equipped for this purpose and able to take you to places you did not even imagine existed. It is intended for those who want to see unusual perspectives and scenarios. You will travel to the interior of the Island in muddy terrain at times and see untouched nature. Sometimes the Jeep might get stuck in the mud at which point you can volunteer to help free the Jeeps from the mud. Have an outdoor lunch (traditional food and Portuguese wine). Then stroll through the interior of the island for some breathtaking views.

    You will be collected at 10:30AM from your hotel or place of accommodation, at which point you will go to the outdoor setting where your cooking class will take place. You will begin by preparing the bread, before then moving on to prepare the Alcatra dishes. While preparing your dishes, you will be treated with some some local cheese and bread, with wine, beer, and water of your choosing. Then cook some local sausages and linguiças to start nibbling on, as your food continues cooking. Have the opportunity to play some board games, or you can take a walk through the park with your wine and enjoy the beauty of nature. When the food is ready you will sit down to eat your freshly-prepared cuisine, and at the conclusion of your tour you will be returned to your accommodation.

    We had an amazing day cooking the traditional island dish of Alcatra and making fresh bread. Antonio and his team did an amazing job of making the process both entertaining and informational. The setting for the class is a beautiful park and we enjoyed time hiking and exploring while our dishes were cooking in the outdoor oven.

    Explore the UNESCO World Heritage City of Anga do Heroismo on a 3-hour guided tour. Located on Terceira Island, this historically important city is full of period churches, palaces, and forts. After a hotel pickup within the city at 9:15 AM, your guide will take you on a walking tour that focuses on the city's history, urbanization, and architecture.   Among other highlights, you’ll visit the Angra do Heroismo Museum, where you can explore exhibitions about navigation, settlers, volcanology, religion, Azorean history, and culture. Visit the Duke of Terceira Botanical Garden, full of classic gardens emblematic of the city’s Romantic period. Enjoy all this in the woods in the middle of nature, where you can walk around enjoying a drink, taking pictures of beautiful views, relaxing and breathing in the pure air while your hosts cook.
