Go on a one-day tour to the David Gareja Monastery complex. This short but eventful journey will allow you to explore one of the most ancient and important religious sites in Georgia. Davit-Gareja cave city, an extraordinary site with fantastic semi-desert landscapes, is located 100km south-east from Tbilisi, and it was founded in the 6th Century by David (St. David Garejeli). The complex of temples stretches for several kilometers in the south-east of the country and along the border with Azerbaijan. The David Gareja Monastery is unique due to the fact that many of its buildings are cut into a huge tilted rock and some of its temples still preserve millenary frescos. Be ready to walk and climb on uneven ground. The walking route last approximately 8 km (5 miles). On the way back, you will stop at a nice cozy house for lunch (not included) and for a wine tasting.

Depart from Tbilisi on a full-day tour where you will hike through the Caucasus Mountain Range and into the picturesque Jutra Village, stopping at the Dariali Gorge and Gveleti Waterfall along the way. Start your journey at The Rooms Hotel in Kazbegi. During this stop, get an opportunity to eat, have coffee, and relax for an hour. The Rooms Kazbegi’s stylish restaurant is decorated with wooden furnishings and serves international cuisine.  Have a drink in the lobby bar, while meals can be enjoyed on the terrace with a spectacular view over Mount Kazbegi and the Gergeti Trinity Church as well as the surrounding forests and woodlands. Continue along the Georgian Military Highway and see the road’s unique sights before a visit to Dariali Gorge. Discover the two hidden waterfalls here and admire the rivers below them. Next, head over to the Gveleti village, located in Kazbegi, and begin a 1 km hike so you can see the scenic views of the Caucasus. Arrive at the Gveleti Waterfall, which can be translated as "the Snake’s Waterfall”, and be amazed by the breathtaking views of one of the most splendid waterfalls in Georgia.  Afterward, visit the village of Juta, located 2,200 m high above sea level. With only 18 locals surrounded by alpine area, it's a great place to escape civilization. The village is situated on the main hill of the Caucasus mountain range at the source of the river Bakurkhevi.  Lastly, enjoy unforgettable views from Fifth Season Hostel. It's a peaceful place where you can grab a drink and take in the stunning landscape of the multiple mountain Chaukhi peaks. Become entranced with the dreamy location, where clouds and mountains appear to ‘dance’ around each in an impressive performance every second.

4. David Gareja Monastery and Sighnaghi Tour

In the morning, the guide and driver will pick you up from your accommodation in Tbilisi (if you choose the private option), or alternatively meet the tour group at Europe Square. Then, head to David Gareja complex via Sagarejo village. Turning from the Eastern main road, drive on a dirt road to the semi-desert. The complex was established in the 6th century AD by one of the 13 Assyrian monks and expanded through the centuries. Here, have a tour of the caves and monasteries, and enjoy 2-3 hours easy trekking in the semi-desert. On your way to Signagi, you’ll visit the Bodbe monastery. The monastery is one of the major pilgrimage sites in Georgia, due to its association with St. Nino, the 4th-century female evangelist in Georgia. In Sighnaghi, a small town surrounded by 18th-century defensive wall and remnants of fortifications, take a relaxing walk in the town, explore the defensive wall and fortifications, and enjoy the views of Alazani Valley. In the evening, drive back to your place of stay or Europe Square in Tbilisi.

5. Tbilisi: Private Uplistsikhe and Borjomi Hot Pools Day-Trip

Enjoy a day trip to the most scenic sight of central and southern Georgia, visiting a local family in their countryside house for a traditional dinner. After the pick-up from your hotel at 9:00AM, you will soon reach the ancient cave town of Uplistsikhe. Here you can walk through the ruins and beautiful rock formations and see the remains of formal ancient glory of what used to be once the center of Pagan culture. Right next to Uplistsikhe lies Gori, the town known as the birth place of Stalin, where you can still see the house where he grew up. After about 1.5 hours, you will reach the cozy resort town of Borjomi, surrounded by the largest national park of Georgia. You can wander through the beautiful central park, taste the legendary mineral water of Borjomi directly from the springs and take a bath in the open air thermal pools in the middle of the forest. You can reach the pools by hiking through the forest or taking a ride with a local car operating this route (at own expense). After the outdoor fun you are invited to be the guest of a Georgian family who lives in a nearby village, where a delicious traditional dinner is waiting for you.

6. From Tbilisi: Rkoni Village Cycling Tour

Early in the morning, the car will pick you up from wherever you’re staying in Tbilisi. Cycling starts from Akhaltsikhe castle ruins (new castle in translation) through the old Kartli region villages 50 km west from Tbilisi. Route goes up stream of Tedzami river. After crossing a little narrow wooden bridge you’ll pass magnificent Drisi Castle hanging from above. Back on the road you'll follow river and cross it several times before entering Algeti National Park. Algeti National Park is located in the Tetritskaro district. It comprises the southern slopes of the eastern area of Trialeti mountain range in the Algeti river gorge and is located at an altitude of 1,100-1,950 m above sea level. Cross one more water stream and you'll find yourself in Rkoni village. This is where the road ends and the route follows a trail to the ancient Rkoni monastery complex (VII century) and old stone bridge. The monastery was built at first in VII century and during following centuries the architecture of the complex was renovated and changed several times in XIII-XIV and XVII-XVIII cc. You can view Rkoni castle defence wall on the other side of canyon. On the way back, the route follows a different path, ascending to low Green mountain pass (1030m). From the highest point  one can find beautiful views over the river Mtkvari gorge, and in good weather even the high range of Great Caucasus. Afterwards, descend to the ending point of cycling tour. On your way to and from the Rkoni complex you'll be able to admire old churches and remains of fortification buildings.

8. Racha: 6-Day Trekking Tour

Day 1: Tbilisi - Shaori - Shovi Start your 6-day journey by departing for the mountainous region of Racha, located 340 km from Tbilisi, and 140 km from Kutaisi in North-West of Georgia. Enjoy a stop at Nikortsminda Church which was built in the 11th century and repaired in the 17th century. The Cathedral is on the Tentative List of UNESCO World Heritage Sites and a true sight to behold. The total driving distance for the day is 340 km (7-hours). Day 2: Glola - Shovi – Buba Glacier - Glola After an evening of well earned rest, you will start your trekk to Buba glacier. The trail starts at the Shovi resort and goes along the gorge of the river Bubastskhali. After the slope, the route passes Shepherds’ Summer hut and ascends the ridge. From here you will enjoy an impressive panorama of the Buba Glacier and the surrounding vicinity. From the glacier, passing the same way, the trail returns back to Shovi. The walking distance during the day is 12 km (6-hours). The starting elevation is 1566-meters, maximum elevation 2505-meters, 1010-meters up and down. Day 3: Glola - Shovi - Udziro Lake Start your day with a hike through the forest before continuing into the alpine meadows of the picturesque Chkauri valley. Afterward, you will follow the upstream river and have lunch in the alpine meadows just below the massive mountain peaks. From here, enjoy the hike up the steepest section of this trek: to the Geske pass (3076-meters). At the top, you can see Udziro lake and the surrounding mountain of Katitsvera. Afterwards, you and your group will descend towards the lake and spend the overnight on the banks of the lake. The walking distance for the day is 11 km (9-hours). The starting elevation is 1346-meters, maximum 3077-meters.  Day 4: Udziro Lake – Glola Day 4 will provide the group with a well needed rest, on a day that is relatively less active than the others. You will be treated to majestic views and witness the sunset into the Great Caucasus mountains. You'll also get to look at one of the highest peaks of the Caucasus from the lake. The trail is quite steep and requires several hours to reach Glola village. The walking distance of the day is 8 km (6-hours in duration). The starting elevation is 2800 and ends at 1330-meters. Day 5: Glola - Ghebi - Gona - Lagura Huts - Oni The last part of your Racha trekking adventure starts on Day 5. You will hike toward the Shoda-Kedela mountain range. The views for today are nothing short of breathtaking; the Greater Caucasus Mountains, small villages, glaciers, and snow-peaked mountains are amongst some of the highlights of the day. After you reach Lagura huts, the residence of local shepherds, you will hike back to Ghebi village, and drive to Oni. The walking distance for the day is 14 km. The starting elevation of the day is 1284-meters, maximum elevation 2000-meters. Day 6: Oni - Ambrolauri - Tbilisi In the morning, start your final steps of your Racha adventure. Travel to Khvanchkara village where you will taste the famous wine of Racha at the Khvanchkara wine factory. Khvanchkara is a single estate semi-sweet Georgian red wine made from unique aboriginal varietals “Aleksandrouli” and “Mujuretuli” produced at Khvanchkara Winery according to the ancient traditions. Afterward, travel back to Tbilisi or Kutaisi. The driving distance for the day is 310 km (duration 7-hours).

9. Tbilisi to Borjomi - Kharagauli National Park Day Tour

Start your tour after breakfast from your hotel in Tbilisi. During the tour, you will visit the ancient capital of Georgia – Mtskheta. Here you will see wonderful UNESCO heritage monuments. the first being Jvari Monastery from the 7th-century, where the beautiful view on the confluence of two rivers Mtkvari and Aragvi can be seen from. Then go to the Svetisckhoveli Cathedral from the 11th-century – the architectural masterpiece of Georgian Renaissance. Then drive to Borjomi, which is situated in the central part of Georgia. The city is well-known for its mineral waters. You can taste natural mineral waters from the spring in the central park of Borjomi. After Borjomi Park, you will visit the beautiful forest of pine, hornbeam, and beech in Borjomi-Kharagauli National Park. Explore one of the easiest trekking routes – “National Park Information Tail”. The route starts from the administration building. After an initial hard ascent, the trail straightens out allowing for an easy trek that takes about 1.5 hours to complete.

10. Borjomi National Park: 2-Day Hike - Lomi Mountain

Day 1: Tbilisi, Borjomi, Likani (by car) - Likani Guard Station-Lomisma touristic shelter Walking Distance 15km, 6 hours, starting elevation 930m, maximum 2080, ascent 1150m. Depart to the Borjomi town which is situated in the central part of Georgia. The city is well-known of its mineral waters. You can taste absolutely natural mineral waters from the spring in the central park of Borjomi. The hiking starts at Likani guard station (930 m). Pass by the Likani River valley where you may come across rare species included in the Red List of Georgia. Afterward, head up and reach the tourist shelter of Lomismta. Stay overnight in the wooden cottage. Day 2: Lomi Mountain, Likani, Tbilisi Walking Distance 18km, 7 hours, maximum elevation 2180, ascent 400m, descent 1500m. Visit St George Church, located on Lomismta. Here, in addition to beautiful views, there are flourishing rhododendrons in May and June. After exploring surrounding hills of Lomi Mountain, head back to the Lomismta shelter before setting off back towards Likani, and eventually to Tbilisi.

Awesome tour! We visited Mars, namely in the desert part of Kakheti. We visited non-tourist places, namely temples, which are closed from prying eyes. The tour ended at a family-style winery. It was my spouse's birthday, Alex made sure that the cake was served and the whole day went by as if in one breath. Our guide Alex and driver Andro are sincere, attentive people with whom it is very pleasant to talk about the traditions and history of Georgia. I recommend this tour to everyone! You will see Georgia from a completely different side.
