After departing from Tbilisi to Gudauri early in the morning, you will travel 160 kilometres along the Georgian Military Road. This famous road runs between Tbilisi, Georgia and Russia, and on the way, there are some exciting places to visit. You will begin by visiting Sabaduri Forest, an area which is breathtaking and reminiscent of scenery from a children's fairy tale. Afterwards, you will reach the Ananuri Fortress, a 16th-century castle complex on the Aragvi River. The fortress stands beside the famous Georgian Military Highway, overlooking a sizeable Jinvali lake. Its high, turreted stone walls protect two churches, a watchtower, and a reservoir. The main church facade is beautifully carved with animal, floral and Celtic-style patterns. Your next stop will be Gudauri, a remarkable ski resort in Georgia. The resort is at an altitude of 2,200 meters above sea level and offers high-quality skiing opportunities between December and April. In the morning your driver meets you at your accommodation in Tbilisi and your snow adventure begins. On the way to Gudauri resort you take a short stop at the Jvari monastery. Then, continue your trip past the impressive Ananuri fortress and Jinvali water reservoir that provides a nice location for a photo stop on the way. Afterwards, drive on to Gudauri Ski Resort, located 120 km North from Tbilisi. This is a young and rapidly developing winter sports resort. Skiing season here lasts from December to April. Gudauri has 54km of routes suitable for pro-riders and beginners. Even if you do not like to ski, you can find something to do at this destination: paragliding, snow boarding, snow bicycles or building snowmen! After being collected from your hotel in the morning, you will venture to Jinvali, which is the largest reservoir of eastern Georgia. Following this, you will head toward the fortress of Ananuri, which is one of the best monuments of late feudal Georgia, and although there are not so few of these monuments in Georgia, it is Ananuri that helps people understand exactly how people lived at that distant time. Ananurian structures, unlike other similar cultures, are perfectly preserved. This particular feature evokes interest in the fortress of both tourists and historians, and since 2012, the fortress has the status of a UNESCO World Heritage Site. In the early afternoon, you will experience Gudauri, a ski resort situated on a south-facing plateau of the greater Caucasus Mountain, 2,200 meters above sea level (in the winter season you can even enjoy skiing). Later on, you will see the People's Friendship Arch, which was the inspiration of the famous sculptor Tsereteli. It was built at an altitude of 2,384 meters in the Kazbegi district, on a cross pass near the Military Georgian Road. Later in the afternoon, you will tour Stepantsminda (Kazbegi), a Trinity Church in Gergeti. Among the snow-covered ranges and on the slope of the majestic mountain of Kazbegi, you will find the ancient Georgian Trinity Church. It is located at an altitude of 2,170 meters near the town of Stepantsminda and the village of Gergeti, in honor of which it was named. It is widely known as the Trinity Church in Gergeti, but the Georgians refer to it as "Gergetis Tsminda Sameba". In the morning, meet your guide at your hotel before driving to the north-east of Georgia. Visit Jvari Monastery, an early medieval age church (VI-VII centuries) which was built on the top of the hill where St. Nino erected a wooden cross in the 4th century. The church overlooks the confluence of two rivers and amazes its visitors with its beautiful facades and geographical locations. Then, travel along the Great Caucasus Mountains. You will also visit Ananuri castle complex (14-18cc) a medieval architectural complex which unites two churches, several towers, and defense walls. Day 1: Tbilisi to Mazeri Start the day with a drive to Svaneti. On the way, stop at Enguri Dam, which is one of the highest arch dams in the world. Afterward, continue to the region of Upper Svaneti where you can admire exceptional mountain landscapes composed of well-preserved villages with unique defensive tower houses, examples of ecclesiastical architecture and medieval arts. Day 2: Mazeri to Ushba Waterfalls  In the morning, begin your hike from the village of Mazeri, following the Dolra River upstream. Pass by mineral water springs, a small church, and beautiful meadows. Then, ascend slowly through beautiful pine forests until you reach the border post from where your last ascent starts. Afterward, return to Mazeri, where you will spend the night. (difficulty: moderate, walking distance: 14 kilometers, duration: 5 hours) Day 3: Mazeri to Mestia  Start the day with another spectacular hike to Koruldi Lakes through the Guli Pass. After taking on the challenge of the Guli Pass, descend into another valley where you will reach the Koruldi Lakes. Relax here and take in the spectacular alpine views before continuing to Mestia for the night.  (difficulty: hard, walking distance: 16 kilometers, duration: 8 hours) Day 4: Mestia to Zhabeshi  Today, hike to the village of Zhabeshi, where you will meet the Mulakhi community. Today's route is easy and follows an off-road and well-marked trail. Spend the night at a guesthouse in Zhabeshi with shared facilities. (difficulty: moderate, walking distance: 16 kilometers, duration: 6 hours) Day 5: Zhabeshi to Adishi  Enjoy a hike up the slopes of Tetnuldi mountain, passing ski resorts and forests of birch trees and rhododendron bushes. After passing an alpine river, relax in the picturesque mountainous meadows of Adishi, where you will find ancient stone houses. (difficulty: moderate, walking distance: 10 kilometers, duration: 6 hours) Day 6: Adishi to Iprali  Rise early and cross a roaring Adishi river to climb up to the Chkhunderi pass. From here, admire majestic panoramic views of the picturesque Adishi Glacier. Afterward, hike to the villages of Khalde and Iprali, where you will spend the night. (difficulty: hard, walking distance: 17 kilometers, duration: 8 hours) Day 7: Iprali to Mestia  In the morning, trek through traditional Svani villages. After passing by the villages of Kala and Davberi, trek through forests to reach Ushguli from above. (difficulty: moderate, walking distance: 10 kilometers, duration: 5 hours) Day 8: Mestia to Tbilisi  After breakfast, begin the journey back to Tbilisi, stopping at the Chalaadi glacier along the way as you follow the Mestiachala river upstream. Take off from Tbilisi to the Zhinvali reservoir, Kazbegi National Park, Gudauri, and more on this multi-stop guided trip. Take in unbeatable views of local spots, village landscapes, and Mount Kazbegi. The trip starts with a 40-minute drive from Tbilisi to the Zhinvali reservoir. The huge lake around the forest-rich hills offers beautiful landscapes at any time of the year. From here you can already smell the mountains.
