Depart Tbilisi and travel to a dry desert region surrounded by hills and only inhabited by a few shepherds. Arrive at the historic David Gareji Monastery complex, founded by hermits who chose a secluded life in the early Middle Ages. Take an optional hike to the top of the hill separating Georgia and Azerbaijan, and get stunning views of the surroundings as you look for more of the abandoned caves. Continue to the small town of Signagi overlooking the Alazani Valley and Caucasian Mountains. Stroll the narrow streets to buy souvenirs and enjoy lunch at leisure. Sample the local Marani wine and an authentic chacha (brandy) at a traditional winery and learn the history of wine making in Georgia. Visit the nearby convent at Bodbe, famed as an important site of pilgrimage for Orthodox Christians. Return to Tbilisi via a village that makes the local churchkhela candies to try some of the best sweet treats in Georgia!

Incredible day with a very friendly and funny Irakli! He literally made my day! He was telling me all about the history and culture of Georgia. Impressive knowledge! The entire ride was enjoyable, he was telling me all about the places we were passing and stopping for pictures. He talked about the Monastery in a very interesting way. Moreover he stopped at the local Kachapuri place where I could witness the traditional way of making it. Unforgettable! Wine tasting...ladies were very knowledgeable and professional. Safe driving and beautiful views!

We had a lot of fun, driving off road through a live fire range, winding up at a monastery that’s divided between Georgia and Azerbaijan, and ending up at this silly city of love which is well worth not going to. Our tour guide was valuable, wonderfully opinionated, I’m not afraid to tell us about his life today and what is right and wrong with Georgia. That was worth far more than the price Of admission. Oh yes, the winery! Well worth visiting: a brother and a sister run it, his wines are good, hers are superb. su Ivan mission. Oh yes, the winery! Well worth visiting: a brother and a sister running, his winds are good, hers are superb. Much better than the generally overrated wines that are available to sample.

Had another great tour with Levan. He is very knowledgeable about the areas we visited. For others looking to book a trip with this company, Levan has excellent english, and is a natural guide. Be ready for a full day on this trip, you really get a lot packed in. I can't really say anything negative other than perhaps an option after the tasting to have a glass of the wine you liked the most. I need to note that Levan included an incredible personal touch to the tour by bringing us to his family farm and meeting his father. While all the Georgians were incredibly welcoming this was like no other tour opportunity I've had.
