Kazbegi, Stepantsminda, and Gudauri Tour

1. Kazbegi, Stepantsminda, and Gudauri Tour

You will depart from Tbilisi early in the morning, in the direction of Kazbegi. On the way, there will be some very interesting places to visit. Ananuri Fortified Castle Ensemble is a sixteenth-century castle complex on the Aragvi River. The fortress stands beside the famous Georgian Military Highway, overlooking the large Jinvali Lake. Its high, turreted stone walls protect two churches, a watchtower, and a reservoir. The main church facade is beautifully carved with animal, floral and Celtic style patterns. Next stop on the way is Gudauri, a remarkable ski resort in Georgia. The resort is at the altitude of 7,217 feet (2,200 meters) above sea level. The first lower lift station is at 6528 feet (1,990 meters ) above sea level and the last, or top, the station is at a 3,306-meter called summit Sadzele. The resort offers high-quality skiing opportunities, with the ski season lasting from December through April. From Gudauri, you'll continue your trip to Gergeti Trinity Church. At an altitude of 7,119 feet (2,170 meters), the twelfth or thirteenth-century monument was erected on the southern slopes of Mkinvarcveri. Gergeti Trinity Church is an important temple, remarkable for its beautiful scenery. The Gergeti Trinity Church is set poignantly on a hill directly below the towering white massif of Mount Kazbek, which sits at 5,033 meters. On top of all this, you will also have the opportunity to partake in the best tandem paragliding in Georgia. The spectacular views and stable weather conditions put it right up there. From the perfect take-off sites close to the spots around Gudauri, your flight will take you over the ridges with a birds-eye view of the places above Jvari pass or Aragvi Valley. After a 20 to 25 minute flight, you will smoothly land close to the takeoff area or near the road in the valley after your exhilarating cross-country flight.

2. From Tbilisi: Small Group 1-Day Tour to Armenia with Lunch

Visit two of Armenia’s ancient monasteries and the town of Alaverdi on this small group tour from Tbilisi. Cross over the border with your experienced guide who will take you through the highlights of Northern Armenia in just 1 day.   Depart at 9:00 AM sharp for a 1.5-hour trip across the Georgian-Armenian boarder. Almost immediately you’ll start to notice changes in the landscape—the fields will become rocky mountains and the scenery takes on a certain apocalyptic touch, due to the many abandoned Soviet mines and factories. Your first stop is the fortified monastery of Akhtala, where you can marvel at the beautifully preserved frescoes and learn about the thrilling history of this Georgian-Armenian creation.   Then, you’ll reach the UNESCO-listed monastery complex of Haghpat, where you’ll learn about the Armenian stone crosses and the mystical poet Sayat-Nova. The next stop is a small authentic restaurant by the river, where you can try authentic Armenian cuisine. Travel another 30 minutes to the center of the town of Alaverdi, famous for being the hometown of MIG fighter jet engineer Mikoyan, and the 10th century monastery of Sanahin. Arrive back in Tbilisi by around 6:00 PM after a full and fascinating day.

Visited during the 1st week of December, the weather is cold and nice. There is already snow in the mountains and it was perfect weather for paragliding. The view is amazing. Out guide Khatuna introduced us to amazing tourists attractions and very knowledgeable about Georgian history and the way she explains it is making the history more interesting. She is very warm and friendly making the tour comfortable. I would definitely recommend this tour for everyone visiting Georgia. You’ll have the best view of the mountains and don’t miss the chance to go paragliding!

We booked a private tour for 3 people to visit Kazbegi, Stepantsminda, and Gudauri. Our guide was Aleksi and he was great! Very informational, friendly, talkative and very fun! He was on time in picking us up in our Tbilisi hotel, he took really great photos of us and he accommodated our request to drop us off in our hotel in Stepantsminda. I would give this experience 5/5.
