Full description
Discover the most magical natural gems of the Ebro Delta on a guided bike tour. Soak in the characteristic landscapes of the rice fields that change with the seasons. Begin at Riu a l’Ebre and follow the route along the river promenade until you reach Lo Passador bridge. At the end of the street, go over a small bridge crossing the canal. Arrive at the Florença Elevation. Take the path to the left and head to the pumping station of the shellfish port of Illa de Mar inside Fangar bay, an old port with more than a century of tradition. From this point, enjoy a beautiful panoramic view. Observe the green filter lagoon, the fishing village of l'Ampolla, the mussels in the middle of the bay, and the peculiar red and white lighthouse of the Fangar. Head right bordering the bay for bird watching. Keep your eyes open to spot marsh harriers, flamingos, herons, seagulls, and more. Take another right to see a small, old hut that was once used to store rockets launched into the clouds to avoid hail storms. Then, find the road going to Marquesa beach. Pass over a bridge that crosses the canal and pedal parallel to the course of the canal. Pass by several rice fields. Learn about the peculiarities of this crop that the Delta de l'Ebre is famous for. The rice fields cover 65% of the total surface of the Delta, changing throughout the year with the seasons. Therefore, they offer different vistas as the months go by. End the 3-hour cycling adventure back at Riu a l’Ebre.
