Chiufen Village is too touristy to be genuinely interesting

Unfortunately it rained heavily the whole day so I cannot be 100% objective. On the way there were some interesting rock formations that we stopped for (in the rain). Chiufen is just one street with hundreds of little tourist shops and thousands of tourists crowding every inch. There was no kind of local culture.

Unfortunately it was raining during the trip. However, the clouds in the mountains created an atmosphere of its own. We visited the coast for 15 min to take some pictures and spent other 10 min at a waterfall. For Jiufen we had 75 min. The meeting point was a 100 year old tea house. If you are not much interested in buying souvenirs than go straight to the tea house and enjoy a tea in really nice location. This is the highlight of the tour. If you are traveling with children, don’t bring your stroller along. The stops are to short, the streets in Jiufen are to crowded and you have to go down a lot of stairs to arrive at the pick up point.

Good value for money and for the short time

Very nice views of the coast and mountains. We saw a lot compared to the very short time. Jiufen in the mountains is nice to, if you step up a little bit further you´ll have a great colorful temple. Our guide was good and very caring about everybody. I enjoyed the short trip very much!
