What people are saying about Syracuse

This tour was worth every penny. Ettore and his son Lorenzo welcomed us in a bar in Ortigia. From there we first walked through the old market together, with Ettore letting us try local products such as olives, salami, cheese and others from various vendors. In the oldest traditional fish shop, he then introduced us to the variety of local fish and other seafood before we bought swordfish and anchovies for our lunch at the next fishmonger. Finally we bought some fresh vegetables. Since it was our first visit to Syracuse, we were then guided a little through Ortigia before we went to a friend's restaurant to cook, where they cooked. Ettore showed us how to conjure up delicious appetizers from the anchovies with simple means (we are not usually fans of anchovies). At the same time we prepared swordfish pasta with tomatoes and basil.

Maria was delightful to work with. She’s so warm and friendly and had everything set up for our cooking class. We made bruschetta, pasta and cannoli. She made sure that I understood what she was doing and always asked if I had any questions. It was a very pleasurable experience cooking with her.

A highlight of our time in Ortigia. The captain and guide could not have been nicer. We sailed and saw beautiful sights and even had the opportunity to go swimming. The food and wine was an excellent end to an amazing trip. We could not more highly recommend this experience.

It's not just a cooking class, it's a visit to the market and you go to his house to cook. It was really great! He knows everyone in the market and we learned a lot! great great great!!!

Excellent experience from visiting the market and local shops to teaching our family about Sicilian cooking. Hector even adapted the menu to do a special dish for our 9 year old - thank you!
