We had a great time, we recommend it. We had to rent a wheelchair for my Mum as she can't walk for too long. The zoo has wheel chair access however is a bit hard to get around when you go up hill, other than that the whole experience was good. Really nice views of the city.

Check-in at Circular Quay was fine, once I found the check-in point. Ferry left on time and the trip to Taronga was quick. When you get off the boat, take the Sky Safari first so you go up to the top. The Zoo is on a very large hillside, which I would not want to have to walk up. Start at the top and work your way down as if you were on a slalom ski course. If you time it right, you'll be able to see many of the sessions put on by the zoo staff. It took about five hours of walking, all downhill, to see everything. All in all a great day.

It is smooth as you just have to reach the meeting spot and they give you the zoo ticket and ferry trip. I really liked the zoo, you beed minimum 3 hours to explore it and could be easily 5 hours. On a money wise point, you can just buy directly the zoo ticket online, and go paying the public ferry either Saturday or Sunday and overal it will be cheaper (it will cost you max 9 AUD for both ferry trips, and it's very straightforward). During week days, the activity from this site may be more convenient.
