A symbol of freedom in the New York Harbor, the Statue of Liberty will give you a thrill the first time you spot her, whether you catch a glimpse from land, hop on a cruise, or get up close and personal on Liberty Island. Enjoy the view!
You can’t miss the ferry terminal next to Battery Park. Free, running every 30 minutes, and offering perfect views of the Statue as it passes, this is a 25-minute iconic boat ride.
Visit the lady herself. Boat tours take you to Liberty Island, where you can climb inside the Statue of Liberty. There’s also a chance to stop at Ellis Island on the same trip.
Cruises tour New York’s harbor, offering the best views as they sail past. The best way to see the Statue of Liberty at night is on a fancy dinner cruise.
If you want to stay on land, head to Red Hook - a great neighborhood with views of Lady Liberty from the end of Van Brunt Street or from Louis Valentino Jr. Pier and Park.
If you want to stay on land, and in Manhattan, enjoy views of the Statue of Liberty from the southern tip of Manhattan while strolling along the harbor through Battery Park.
The best time to see the Statue of Liberty is on a sunny day. A rainy foggy day on the harbor isn’t ideal, but the good news is that the sun shines bright in New York all four seasons of the year. A brisk sunny winter day with a bright blue sky is as New York as a hot steamy summer evening.
Ferries leave directly from Battery Park ferry terminals if you’re headed to Liberty Island. If you want to cruise around the Statue of Liberty instead, you can find boats that board at any number of stops along the Hudson River in Midtown, Downtown, or in Battery Park.
Cruises can be as short as an hour, or you can book some of the best Statue of Liberty boat tours in the evening, with a three-hour dinner cruise along the waterways. Seeing New York City’s lights and the Statue of Liberty at night is pretty majestic. Alternatively, you can easily see both Ellis Island and the Statue of Liberty in one 3-hour tour.
Buy tickets online to avoid the hassle of lines. Keep in mind that if you are going to Liberty Island, take only a small bag. You will be screened by security during admission and backpacks and other large items are not allowed. Pack a snack too!
We found the pass to be worth it when we added up the costs of what we did and what it would have cost to do them by paying separately. The pdf information the pass provided on the 100 included attractions was most helpful and maybe we could have gotten that from other sources but it worked out well for us to plan our itinerary from the list of things the pass would pay for. Not all of our activities that we did in NY were covered, but that still was OK. You need to calculate how much you think you're going to do on your trip to determine if it's good for you. We did not feel like we were running all over to do things to make it worth it, but we were busy most days all day long.
A brilliant way to see New York if you only have a short time as you get to experience all the major sights with a fantastically friendly and knowledgable guide. The observatory entry is a must see you get the most incredible view of the whole island and beyond. Lynsey our guide was warm, funny and so helpful and gave us the confidence to explore further on our own in the days after her tour.
My wife and I had a brief stopover in New York and decided to use much of the time on this trip. It was a good decision. Our guide, Cherie, was very knowledgeable and imparted a lot of information. She also made the time enjoyable, whilst treating the subject matter with due respect. We felt that our time had been well spent and that we had received good value for money.
die Fahrt zur Statut of Liberty. The tickets counter was not informed how handling the Sightseeing Flex pass. It toke us about one hour to get the right ticket and queuing/Organisation/Control was to long for this kind of sightseeing. All others Activities did work so well in comparison.
Steven was an excellent guide, and it was a wonderful tour. He was very considerate of one who was using a cane and needed a little more time or elevator. He was a lot of fun and has a wealth of knowledge about all we were seeing.
