Quebec City: St-Lawrence River Ice Canoeing Experience

5. Quebec City: St-Lawrence River Ice Canoeing Experience

Discover the magic of St Lawrence River as your winter playground on an ice canoeing experience. Perfect for first-timers, this all-inclusive activity is a great introduction to the historical role of ice canoeing in Quebec. Your experience begins near the boat ramp located around a 15-minute drive from downtown Quebec City. On arrival, you will be greeted warmly by your guide. Hear about the ice canoe’s historical role in maritime connections on the Saint-Lawrence. Suit up in your specialized equipment, learn the basic techniques, and go over the safety instructions. With the briefing out of the way, head toward the river. Each route is adapted according to the current weather conditions and tides. Canoers (that’s you) will have the opportunity to try both the oars and the crampons (aka “scooters”). Pause around half-way to walk on the ice, sip hot chocolate, enjoy a snack, and take a few selfies. You will be alone with your small-group on the river with a view that will leave you even more breathless than the actual ice canoeing. Then, return to the mainland so you can warm up and debrief. Your guide will be equipped with a GoPro camera to capture photos and videos of your activity along the way. Your photos and videos will be shared with you after your outing.

I found the bus tour to be a splendid activity for tourists and people who are temporarily staying in Montreal, like myself. The tour was planned in a way that it helps catch the theme of this beautiful city with visit to the downtown, old Montreal and Mount Royal. I loved how the tour guide also showed us the popular schools on the way and the rich Victorian houses

Our Guide was very knowledgeable about the history of Montreal and it’s French roots and about the history Montreal dating back from the 1600’s to the present day. It was a fun and interesting activity.

Guide itself was great. Pick up directions could have been clearer, as we were not being picked up at a hotel.

The guides were superior. Friendly, helpful, knowledgeable.

Great tour guide, funny and informative, worth the ride
