Your food and history adventure will begin in the Green Market where you will have traditional inland brunch made of prosciutto, pancetta, cheese, and "peka" bread. From here you will enter ancient Diocletian's palace where you will experience a ''konoba'' tavern-style restaurant and have seafood, handmade macaroni pasta (brought to Croatia by the Croatian Marco Polo), olive oil pies, and south Croatian red and white wines. In the medieval part of Old town you will have the opportunity to visit the oldest pastry shop in Split (their hundred-year-old recipes are top secret). Extraordinary tour! First of all, Split is magnificent, a jewel along the Croatian coast. Our guide, a young Croatian native, knew so much about local foods, how they are grown, cooked and presented that by the end of the tour we could not wait to share the glories of Croatia with friends and family. We wandered through the green market tasting unique delicacies, learned the history of Diocletian's Palace as we slowly made our way through its halls and settled in for a superb lunch in a quiet, restaurant hidden in the ruins of the old city. A glorious day, one I would recommend to anyone who is lucky enough to visit Split.

Doris was out guide and we were the only ones on the tour, she was very informative and we had lots of nibbles in the market. She gave us a good overview of the different foods and some history. The restaurant for lunch had amazing wine and she gave us some good information about that too.

We really enjoy our gastron walking tour. Our guide Olga was really friendly and very informative. We experienced delicious meats and cheese in the Green Market while hearing about the history of Split. The tour of the palace was really interesting and Olga was very happy to answer any questions we had. Our lunch was in a beautiful restaurant and was served with local wine. Overall we had a wonderful morning and would highly recommend it anyone visiting Split.
