In addition it is the place where the tectonic plates of America and Europe meet and the rift valley is clearly visible. From the national park there is a short drive back to Reykjavík, where the tour ends.

We had an evening flight home so wanted to do something short and sweet on the last day so booked onto the short Lava Tunnel trip. The shorter trip was a brilliant and informative Introduction to the cave and the tour guide was fantastic. A great trip to finish off our holiday in Iceland
