From Bath: Private Trip to Bowood House, Castle Combe & more

1. From Bath: Private Trip to Bowood House, Castle Combe & more

The day begins in Castle Combe, which is surely one of the most photographed villages in all of England. Little has changed here since the 15th century - no street lights or TV aerials. This mediaeval gem is famous for its picturesque cottages and babbling brook. Nestled in a wooded Cotswold valley, Castle Combe has been a favourite Hollywood filming location over the years for movies including War Horse, Stardust and Doctor Dolittle. The tour continues further into the heart of Wiltshire and onto Bowood House & Gardens. This delightful 18th century Georgian country house is famous for its sumptuous Robert Adam interiors and iconic landscaped gardens designed by Lancelot “Capability” Brown. This is your chance to share in the English dream - Bowood is one of England's premier stately homes and has been privately owned by the Lansdowne family since 1754. Enjoy a delicious lunch in either the Stables Restaurant or the Treehouse Cafe. Thereafter, your journey continues to the quintessential English village of Lacock, which dates back to the 13th century and where cars are the only sign of modern-day life. Little wonder that it has also been used as a filming location for Downton Abbey, Harry Potter and several BBC productions including Pride and Prejudice. The ancient Abbey boasts a fascinating history and a small museum that celebrates the invention of the photographic negative by William Henry Fox Talbot in 1839. Alternatively, get lost in the timeless side streets, buy some home-made honey or jam from outside locals' honesty shops, or step into one of the village pubs to sample a refreshing pint of local ale. Journey back to the delightful Georgian City of Bath at the end of this memorable day, where you will either be dropped off at your accommodation or in the centre of town.

3. From Southampton: Bath and Windsor Tour with London Drop-Off

After meeting your tour guide and driver, the tour will begin the journey into the limestone country, complete with rolling hills and honey-colored cottages, before edging westwards into the Mendip Hills towards Bath, a city popular for over two thousand years, owing to the hot thermal springs that attracted both Celtic Kings and a while later, Roman aristocracy and is still a popular destination today. On arrival, there will be a full tour followed by optional entry to the Roman Baths, a testament to the cult of Sulis Minerva, both a God of healing and of the underworld. Walk along the original Roman paving, admire the ruins of the ancient temple, and steaming baths. After the city tour there will be free time for lunch before the tour departs for its next stop, Royal Windsor. Over 900 years of Royal history awaits you at the majestic Windsor Castle, a favorite home of the current Queen, and the largest inhabited castle in the world. You will have the option of entering the Castle (except on Tuesdays and Wednesdays) where you can see the state apartments and the Royal Chapel of St.George. The town of Windsor sits alongside the River Thames with royal parks, traditional shops, and typical English pubs, making it one of England's most popular destinations. Departing Windsor the coach will begin the drop-offs to selected Heathrow hotels, all Heathrow airport terminals, selected mainline train stations and any centrally located London accommodation. Drop-offs at Heathrow begin between 5:15 PM and 5:45 PM, and the tour aims to drop off in London between 6:45 PM and 7:30 PM. All timings are approximate and subject to traffic and other delays.

Private Tour: Stonehenge, Winchester, & Salisbury

4. Private Tour: Stonehenge, Winchester, & Salisbury

Head southwest from London on this private, chauffeur driven tour through bucolic English countryside through the counties of Wiltshire and Hampshire. It is a 90-minute journey, but you will be traveling in style and the views are superb. All comforts are taken care of, including a pick-up from your central London hotel at a time to suit you. Once you arrive in Winchester head for the Norman cathedral, former place of pilgrimage and last burial site of Jane Austen. Its interior is magnificent and has seen the weddings and funerals of ancient kings and queens, and the coronation of Richard The Lionheart. Next move on to Salisbury, located on the confluence of 5 rivers. The 13th-Century city is dominated by its Anglican cathedral, which boasts the tallest church spire in England. Inside you can find the best-preserved copy of the Magna Carta. You will then drive to Stonehenge, one of the most mysterious places on earth. What people are saying about South West England

It is an excellent option to make the most of the day, from the moment you get off the cruise until the time of your flight, if your flight is after 7:00 p.m. The excellent guide. The only bad thing was that we had difficulty finding each other, the meeting point they sent us did not correspond to the real one, I suggest confirming before getting off the boat. Everything else perfect.

Great way to get to the ship

Two birds with one stone. Would have had to have taken excursion from ship to see Stonehenge. What better way to go from London to port than by taking in Stonehenge on the way. Right on time with hotel pickup and transfer to coach for tour.

Andrew was a joy to have as our tour guide. Not only is he knowledgeable but he can convey a multitude of historic tidbits that are so interesting. I hope I can take a tour with him again.

Excellent, efficient service from Rachael and Richard. Took great care of us from the hotel to Stonehenge to the cruise terminal. Highly recommended!

Great little getaway, worked out very well with our cruise drop-off
