Experience

Highlights
  • Walk through one of the oldest cities in Bulgaria
  • Visit the picturesque Devetashka Cave
  • Experience Krushuna Waterfalls, one of the biggest cascades in the country
Full description
Your tour begins as you are picked up from your hotel/accommodation in Sofia. After an approximately 2-hour drive, you will reach Lovech. From there you will begin exploring the old quarter of the city. You will walk through the small cobbled streets, traveling back in time as you admire the typical 14th-century houses. You will then take a detailed trip to the Vassil Levski Museum, before continuing your walk to the Hisarya Fortress. The last site in the town to which you will pay attention is the famous Covered Bridge, a masterpiece of Bulgarian architecture which was built by Master Kolio Ficheto. Following the bridge, you will continue your trip with a 20-minute drive to your next stop, Devetashka Cave. Once there you will have some time to walk around the stunning cave, and will proceed to the Krushuna Waterfalls (a 20-minute drive from Devetashka Cave). There you will discover a unique natural wonder where you can take a walk through the beautiful forest and along the stream that has formed this beautiful cascade of blue waterfalls. Following this waterfall visit, your tour will then end with drop off at your point of origin.

Of all three, definitely the Devetaki Caves were the most unique and beautiful - for me, the highlight of the tour by far. Lovech is nice and important from a historical perspective - it's always good to see what a country is like outside of the capital city. Krusuhna Waterfalls were nice, but not the highlight of the tour. Overall a nice day trip, but if I had to pick one attraction to focus on, definintely it would be the Caves.

The cave very well, it is a sight to behold; The waterfall did not seem so good to me since you do not walk to get to it through nature, it is on a cement road about 10 minutes if a lot, also you cannot bathe, it is located on private property of a hotel.

Our guide was a nice man named Philip. He came to pick us up on time and told us what the day was gonna be like. During our drive, he was telling about some history in Bulgaria and also their holiday of that day, the third of march. He was so sweet and passionate about his job, and he really made our day! On the entire trip he was checking if we were okay, or needed anything. During the trip he would put our needs first. He could tell a lot about the places we went, which made the experience really good. In the end we all got a little cord to celebrate their tradition. Which we loved.
